Skype is here

I'm getting forces closes when I click on "My Info" "Events" and when trying to add a contact. Other than that It looks like it will be functional. The chatter on droid-life shows people having no issue with it. Maybe I'm just S.O.L?? Anyone have a chance to try this yet so I can add an it's officially working to the OP?

So far so good for me, made a test call to the test contact and it worked great. Loading up all my contacts now (Skype is going through all of my Contacts to check for those that have Skype...)

I will post back once it is done (taking forever, but I have a lot of contacts), and I have had a chance to really test it. :)

I'm at work (Woodland Hills, CA), but just installed Skype on my TB, and called my wife (home computer in Simi Valley, CA; ISP = ATT Uverse). While I was on 3G she said "audio is ok, picture is crap, if this is how it's gonna be just call me regular". I hung up, switched to 4G, called back, and she said both audio and video was perfect. :D

She has a TB as well, but will need to get home to install for her. Will then try calling over home wi-fi, 3G to 3G.

Just installed at work in Detroit, MI and called my mom, she was the only one online! Worked great, she said I was crystal clear, voice worked fine, and her video quality was as good as it is on my home computer (not great, she has a crap webcam). So all in all, very nice. Plus she's sending me a wine rack.

Did you sync contacts? I did not, and mine works. Try uninstalling, reinstalling and not syncing contacts.

I didnt sync my contacts. I uninstalled and reinstalled same issue.

I was running TelsaCoil Rom. Then I went back to the PlainJane rom and skype worked just fine. No FC's.

I haven't tried a video call yet, but is there anyway to disable the ringtone/vibrate notification? I tried unchecking the options in "Event notifications" but that only hides notifications in the status bar. It's pretty annoying since I'm in a few large group chats and my phone is sitting on my desk constantly vibrating =/

Will have a better chance to test this possibly tomorrow. I tried it here at home, but there's a lot of network traffic in the house (Netflix, etc) at the moment, so running from wifi from phone to local PC was a little less than ideal. Audio wasn't too bad, but the video from the phone side was really dark, laggy, and pixelated. Pretty sure it's all bandwith related though.

Just use Skype on my wifi at home. It worked great. Very clear. I'll try it tomorrow on 4g at work in nyc.

Thanks for the link!

Has anyone figured out how to do the voice chat in portrait mode? I can only get landscape and I don't see any option to change it.

Works great! Thanks for the link....now I'm enjoying 4G speeds and the large screen. Very useful today especially since I'm away on business and now can video chat to my wife and daughter.

so, i was able to get skype to work after I installed a different rom, but when I came home to try it with my mac book, it FC'd again.

Oh well. Tried fixing the permissions and even adding the apk to the system\apps folder but nothing worked. So I restored my old ROM. I'll try skype again if someone finds a solution...

Been testing it the whole afternoon, and it works great. However, your battery will go from 100% to 3% in about an hour the most.
