Yes, you'd have to sign a new contract for the upgrade and if you qualify for the plan A upgrade with Dish it's $200. And it's hard to believe but... free HD. Forever. Seriously. You do have to sign up for another contract (which if you get the 922 + free HD upgrade it's just a 2 year contract, not a 4 year contract) OR you can pay $99 up front and yeah, free HD for as long as you're a Dish customer.

Starting June 3rd I believe, the app will be free of charge, period.
 
Oh, this is going to be great! :D I usually work all day on Sundays and looking forward to the fall football season, I'll be able to pop in on my favorite games from time to time from my EVO! :p
 
I have had a sling solo hooked to my dish dvr for a few years and worked like a charm. Upgraded my dish receiver to vip 922 sling loaded and even better. With the regular sling it would change the home tv to what you were slinging. Now you can be recording 2 shows and watching 1 and 1 sling watching at same time. My daughter in LA canceled her cable and only watches thru my dish dvr. She can schedule what she wants and watch whenever cuz no interference with home tv. Also dish will reimburse you $30 for sling mobile app. I use the iphone one for my ipad and when i connected to my 922 it noticed and generated credit on my bill.

So, you're saying that her Sling watching doesn't change the channel if you're watching TV on your home set at the same time? AND you can be recording 2 MORE shows (if you're watching a previously recorded one)?!

I had that message recently on my Ipod Touch. I just clicked "ok" and hit CONNECT ANYWAY and it works fine.
 
I'm going to wait until I can see if it will support HDMI output on the phone. And for your reviews...

Exactly. Also the 922 has great interface. Brand new and some bugs that people have reported but i have had no problems. Follow the link to this forum about dish 922 . Need to join to read

Wow this is sooo major. I hear it should be out sometime in June. I signed up on their website by my email addy to be notified as soon as it is available. Off to buy a slingbox I go!
 
talked to my friend and he doesnt have a for sure answer cause hes using a nexus one. however preliminary answer would be no.
 
Thanks for the update Agent Jones. Hopefully Sling is aware of the hdmi-out feature based on the Evo's specs and build it into the app.
 
Currently in beta you have the ability to output video but i have never seen nor tested it with the evo using HDMI.

Seems like the person in the video is using it over 3G maybe expect greater speeds/response time on 4G

i have to agree, i also have the a/v, and it works on my ipod touch just fine as well as my touch pro 2
 
I currrently have a SlingBox and it works great. The downfall is that only one person can watch at a time. But this is gonna be worth it once the app is available on the android market. So people, get the slingbox now!
 
i wish slingbox would incorporate DLNA client features. then i could use it for my PS3MS and playon media servers. that would get me to buy an hd one and an andoid software app. i gave up on paying the cable and dish companies about a year ago. im happy with a little planning and using netflix streaming.
