Sling Demo on EVO!!

Ok. I understand the concept now. My question is do I have to have a dedicated cable box for the slingbox? Will it control the cable box?

If you dont use a separate cable box, you will need to get an IR extender, so the slingbox can change the channels of the cable box. This will work just fine, except if you are trying to watch slingbox on your phone, and somebody is at home watching tv, it will change the channels on them. That's why some people just get a dedicated cable box for the sling, as most cable companies rent them for 5 bucks a month.

I am soooo excited.. My dish 922 to being installed today..

HURRAY for Sling App... I am all set to go can't wait... finally TV on my phone again.. man it has been a long time since I had live TV on my phone and boy did I miss it... Now I can wait for a long time until 2.2 comes out.. as I have what I wanted most LIVE TV....

:p:p:p. Thank you Sling Media

one time $200
( cheaper than buying a sling and sling connector.. I priced both out before going the Dish way cheapest I could find the sling HD was 249 then needed the sling connector which was another 65 Also the 922 gives a HUGE storage capacity for DVR's as well as lets me connect 2 TV to the one box.. has independant tuner so who ever is watching at home doesn't get their station chg'd by the Sling user )))).. no monthly fee.. but I am already dish cust. w HD box.

but not happy.. messed up installation DATE... so I am still waiting..... :(

Hmmm...the way it was explained to me was that the 922 only supported (1) TV, and the "2nd tuner" supported the sling connection. As far as the "fee", no extra "sling" fee, just the normal STB/DVR rental fee.

Currently I have a 622 w/external HD, and looking to upgrade my 222 to a 622/722, and add a 2nd sling box, or go with a 922.
