Smoothness of scrolling around

Having owned an iPhone in the past, and even still owning an iPad v1, I find a big difference is the "smoothness" of the operating system of IOS vs Android. Like flicking around a web page, or scrolling up and down in a long menu screen.

Just really a minor complaint because still I prefer Android to iOS, plus the Note beats all because of it's nice size!

But what I find interesting is how Google "Earth" on the Note is WAY smoother than anything else in Android. Flicking around in there is so incredibly smooth and fluid, just like on iOS. I wonder how Google managed to do that for that one app, but not for anything else. Even regular Google Maps (Satellite view) isn't smooth like Google Earth. Intuitively you'd think Google Earth would be less smooth since it's so amazing.

Anyone else experience the same thing in Google Earth or is this just me?

If you root and tweak the phone the smoothness in all menus is unreal

Tweaks:

Set GPU hardware acceleration to ON
Install Franco Kernel (best kernel for silky smooth experience)

I had Google Earth on mine, but it kept freezing and force closing. I finally uninstalled it thinking it was a flawbin Earth's design.

Thanks for the tip. I'm a bit nervous to root mine since there are multiple versions of Note (U.S. vs international, etc.)... I have U.S. version. But I will root eventually, and give this a shot!

I love my Note in every way except for the screen lag. I like goLauncher, and it's not at all that fast as it was on my SGII.

I use SpareParts and set the animations to fast and it helped a lot. I'll try the tweeks mentioned in this thread

Go Launcher stutters while scrolling through homescreens. Tw Launchers stutters less but takes a longer time to launch applications.

Please post if anybody knows how to fix the stutter on homescreens or fix the application launch time on Tw launcher.

I use Go Launcher, and love it. But that's a good point about the stuttering. Could be a Go Launcher problem. Will have to disable Go Launcher and see how the smoothness improves. (but will have to go back to it since it's so awesome otherwise!)

I am using ADW Launcher EX and it's beyond smooth. TW is a bit bloated it seems. Once ICS comes though it takes more advantage of hardware acceleration and should be pretty swift.

ICS fixes the smoothness to a great extent on mine.

The reason TW is better than alternate launchers on GB is that it's hardware accelerated.

While I don't particularly like it as a launcher the expensive SPB Shell is hardware accelerated and if smoothness is all important over functionality I'd go with that.
