Root SMS Error fix (s-off required)

Before anyone asks, there's an app called md5 checker in the play store. You can load the file you downloaded and copy&paste the md5 that the dev provides and press compare and it'll verify it for you.

Geesh Krowley and Leslie Anne , by the time you get done we will have sprint phones with vm bills :-)

Thanks for all of this!

At first glance I am really liking 0.97.10.0808 and getting better signal with the phone in the same spot without moving it from where I had it with 1.09.00.0706. Not seeing any fluctuations in my office where it was bouncing all over the place before. It looks like Sprint PRI from other thread, Sprint PRL 60690, and 0.97.10.0808 radio are going to remain my setup for sometime now for testing. I was still seeing minor fluctuations with 1.09.00.0706.

Anybody else on the ENG HBOOT want to try?

Ya

The pri is what we switched here correct? Radio flashes through boot loader the same way? I could try then would have that same setup as I did prl and pri already.

I would also like to test this out! Still no SMS errors?

PM Sent. You must be on the ENG HBOOT for the radio to flash. I can modify it to work with 1.57 HBOOT if I need to eventually.

Do you switch the pri through bootloader?

PRI is done through bootloader. Follow the instructions in the OP.

I will send you a PM now.

So far my signal seems a little better. The big test will be my office where I get 0 signal and other sprint users can stand next to me and get one. If this let's me get a signal at all it will be a miracle! Enjoying my practically sprint phone now ::-)

Ok, so far radios are a go. I have even received conformation that we have a painless way to return to stock radio if needed. I will PM all my findings to LeslieAnn to see if we can get it added to the OP here. If she would rather me start another thread, I can do that tonight. Testers, please continue to post feedback as to how they are working for you.

Testing three different radios right now, will update when I have completed

UPDATE: Okay so YMMV, but these are my results. I tested the 0.97.10.0808, 1.06.00.1216, and 1.09.00.0706 radios. 0.97.10.0808 did not really have any differences with the stock radio. 1.06.00.1216 seemed to give me the best signal strength plus the best 3G and 4G speeds. 1.09.00.0706 seemed to give me the worst signal strength. 0.97.10.0808 fluctuated once on reboot, the rest did not.

I use to average 1mbps on 3g, then stupidly tried an app called "network signal speed booster" (DO NOT TRY ON EVO V!). It took my speed down to a shameful 14 kbps! It ended up bouncing back but only to about 250kbps on average. After doing all these swaps (prl/pri/radio), I am now at 1.387 mbps! I know these aren't great speeds but the fastest I have had by far! Also I have noticed I have been getting signals from multiple towers I have never seen before.

Previously only got 4g on my street (pointless to use cause I have wifi). I will update later if I get it anywhere else when I'm out.

4g range is improved, however these towers I'm getting are from different states e.g wisconsin and kansas (im in southwest michigan).. the kansas signal sucks by the way.

Trying radio 1.06.00.1216 now.
Update this may not be associated to the radio what-so-ever, but I just recorded 1934kbps in the same place I was getting 1387kbps earlier.

flashed it on CM9, first reboot sat at boot screen, pulled battery and restarted, loaded up fine. Where can I see PRI version in CM9?

I dont think you can. You will need to flash a sense rom to verify. Stock is 1.53_144. After flash it should be 1.53_145.

Yeah with my default (latest VM) PRL I am always connected to the Kansas SID...shouldn't it try to get the one closest to me? Kansas is a few states over.

I am guessing you are using an app like speed test right? It is not telling you that you are connecting to a tower there, it is telling you that is where the server in which your data is being routed through. It will be the same on a Sprint phone because the Sprint North America HQ is located here.
