So ......... I sold my iPhone 4

mikey

Newbie
and purchased a new Desire with the proceeds! :D

Heres hoping I made the right decision, but the iPhone was boring the life out of me and wasnt that reliable - cant wait for it too arrive now!

Don't think you'll have a problem with boredom on the Desire. Tons of things you'll be able to do and probably want to do if you're tech savvy/brave enough to try.

Oh and welcome...:D

Congrats! I returned my iPhone 4 due to it being defective in its ability to get a signal inside my apartment. I am grateful it happened, as the Desire is more customizable and thus better for my personal use.

Nice, another iPhone switcher :D welcome to the Desire family! :D

though I think I will leave it soon :P going one step up :P

step sideways
i have HD and Z at work and they all function similarily but feel/look different.
they each serve a slightly different purpose and i feel HTC built them not to steal eachothers thunder

What does the Desire do that the HD or Z doesn't?

fits in your pocket nicer, doesnt have a hardware keyboard, is slimmer and more comfortable to use

it all depends on your needs i see benefits for each device.

Desire HD - bigger screen and better camera, isnt that pocketable hands get tired

desire z - more solid device, hardware keyboard makes it ace for games and general use although the buttons are hard and overly spaced out. heavy device and already the slider joints are getting warn

Desire bravo - Pocketable size, comfortable to use and good for people who dont want hardware keyboard, camera is a bit iffy in certain lighting, longer boot times (wll be faster with sense update) stigma of being an older device

ive been using all 3, im not bias when i say i prefer my desire. it suits me better as it fits in my pocket nicely and does what i want it to do with a fully working customisation community.

HD would be a nightmare for me on day to day use if i wanted to keep it nice by putting it in a case

the Z is too heavy and i would rarely use the keyboard

like i said, each device serves a purpose

You made a good choice my friend!
after you have had it for a while, you should root and install custom ROM to unlock more features of the phone!

oof, gave up on my iphone last year. I had so many problems with it I ended up giving the damn thing away to my son. Worst was Itunes. After the update to 4.0, it refused to recognise the iphone and wanted to restore from a backup. After 15 mins, I got "Unable to restore - unknown error". Eventually sorted that out, but then all my apps were missing (This was a non-jailbroken device, so I had paid for them). I had duplicate songs for nearly every single track on Itunes - which could only be corrected by manually editing my entire 20GB collection of music. Hopeless. I love my Desire, but will go for the Desire Z, as it offers 1.5GB of storage - the Desire has pitiful memory problems.

Great choise, desire loving friend :D
The only downside you will ever encounter is the limited amount of internal memory.
But apart from that, great choise! You'll be changing themes every day ;)

Wow....I want to live where you live. Here in Canada we've only had the Desire on one Carrier since August (I got mine launch day), and rumour has it there might be the HD on another Carrier in the upcoming months. As well there hasn't been even a whisper of the Z here at all. Maybe I should move to the UK lol

I thought Desire Z is on Bell, and recent talk of Telus getting Desire HD?

The Desire Z is on Bell the only downside is that Bell requires you to activate it on their network even if you purchase it without a contract, so it will be hard for us in the U.S.A. to get one, unlike Telus was. I hope Telus get's the HD, would really like to have a 850/1900 HD!!!!:D

Fair point. I forgot that when I was looking at the Desire I thought it seemed a bit big. Not sure how I'd manage with something bigger, hah. I've never been into the hardware keyboards, either. The Desire does 720 recording, too, so it seems like the only things it lacks (that I'd want) is a bigger screen and touch buttons (the bottom ones), but the bigger screen can't be had without a bigger phone, so yeah...

Thanks for the reply.

no worries, the touch sensitive buttons can be a bit of a pain aswell as you have haptic confirmation of press rather than a physical button
theres no feel to it so you kinda need to look at what you are doing where as desire has raised buttons so you can feel your way easily

Damn - the guy refunded my paypal and said hes keeping the phone :(

the iPhone is sold as well

lol he prob bought an iphone and realised desire was better :P
you should have got a fair bit for your iphone4, you should hopefully be able to buy another right?
