I think the Bionic will be in my Family when it launches especially if I can get it at Costco. That's too sweet of a deal.

The Bionic doesn't really bring "new" tech to the table (except dual core/LTE) but it ain't old tech either. People who use "obsolete" as an adjective to describe the Bionic are misinformed and or do not know what obsolete means. I think the Charge and Thunderbolt are not obsolete but they are still very servicable options for consumers. I even think the D3 and Incredible 2 are still relevant and not obsolete.

I don't want to be an early adopter anymore. :( Nexus Prime with ICS and new HD screen is very tempting but I'm gonna let other people try it out first. Then I'll get the next gen HD and ICS handset when my upgrade is up. Honestly, I think a HD screen for a phone with a 4.3 inch or less screen is not needed but it's still a nice feature. That's on my want list but not needed list.

Same.

I'm going to miss the buttons, personally.

I love these threads, guys, keep it up.

I'm very impressed by the Bionic, it's a huge step up for me, but i only have one upgrade and can't afford to spend full retail on a better phone in a couple of months. i'll wait and see what comes from HTC and Samsung in the next couple months. I've waited this long, I can wait til after turkey day.

but that costco deal sure is nice.

one question though. i keep hearing how maybe motorola changed their lte chip and thats why it took so long. Will different chips be a better receiver for lte signals?

I mean, will bionic be a faster lte phone than a vigor or a prime, or a charge, etc? or is it just affecting battery life

I think LTE is the same across the board, reception-wise. But I'm not sure. Probably Tehsusenoh would be the best one to answer that question.

Thanks, fellow prime-lover. ;)

<not here!>

All kidding aside, if Prime doesn't come to Verizon and HTC battery sucks, Bionic is an excellent option for me. Bionic will be an awesome phone regardless.

That's why . . . . .

The Bionic went back to the drawing board so that Motorola could design their own LTE chip to put in its phones - but they are ambitious that the chip is good enough to market to other manufacturers to put in their phone.

OK, so this is interesting. P3Droid tweeted that he'd pick up the Bionic now and "check on" the Prime later this year. Seems like he would know...

@bkjolly @JasonJW12 If I had my choice I would buy the Bionic now, and check on the NicePicture later this year.

By the way, since Samsung legal yelled at him he's been referring to the prime as random NP word combinations.

I had a Thunderbolt for 2 weeks and returned it because of horrible battery life. Speed and battery life are the two most important things in my book. So while I would love an HD screen with vibrant colors, I'll take a screen I can see in the sun, with Gorilla glass, and a battery that lasts all day!

I couldn't agree with you more.

Really depends on what the screen looks like and how it feels to me. I like the looks of the HTC model coming out with its rubberized back. Heck, there's too many coming out near the same timeframe. Bionic is first then the HTC, Samsung Nexus Prime, and who knows what else. Probably forgetting a couple. I like the features of the Bionic but the dealbreaker will be a dot matrix looking screen. Hard to run with that to me....

I'm getting the Bionic on launch. I seriously doubt that the Nexus Prime will come to Verizon(For all of the same reasons the Nexus One and Nexus S have not). Nexus phones have a stock Android install which comes with features Verizon does not want you to have free access to(tethering as an example).

If Prime drops in October like BGR says it will, I'm in. monster HD screen, ICS. Bionic is a killer phone, but Prime is Prime!

If my OG Droid wasn't on it's last legs I would be right there with you. But I cannot wait til October for a new phone, who knows ICS could get delayed and set the Prime back, then what?

I will be buying the Bionic next Thursday and when the NP comes out and ICS is proclaimed the bees knees then maybe I will sell the Bionic and pick up the NP.

In a way i hope you're right, that way i wont regret buying the Bionic next week heh heh. Either way im sure ill be happy with the Bionic even if the Prime and Vigor have better specs.

That's correct, but it doesn't seem like this will be a pure Nexus phone, hence the name Droid Prime. A pure android device, debuting a new software version, in the Droid line is not unprecedented, as the OG Droid was the first phone to have 2.0 (Eclair).

Whether it comes with Verizon bloatware is unknown, but of course it's probable. Hopefully Samsung follows its tradition of releasing an unlocked bootloader (which is a manufacturer's decision, kind of like how Moto will be unlocking the Bionic hopefully in November) and donating a handset to the developer community. If that's the case, tethering, freezing or eliminating bloatware, etc. will be simple.

Like it's been said before, there will always be a better phone on the horizon. If and when the Prime drops, there will be better rumored phones a few months away. I'm just holding out because the Prime might have everything I'd want for the next 2 years, which the Bionic doesn't, and because my OG Droid is still working perfectly, so I'm in no rush. If you go with the Bionic, you'll have an awesome phone regardless.

I wish i had your patience. I have an Incredible that's still working fine, but I've been waiting since June for the Bionic and i cant wait any longer. All I really wanted was a bigger screen, a dual core processor, and of course 4g. The Bionic has all those things and is why i havent bought a Charge or a Thunderbolt yet. So i see no reason to wait longer, the full hd screen on the Prime is what would make me wait longer though.

If I had the funds, I'd buy the Bionic on pre-order until Prime decided to drop, then buy that. But I don't have the money to buy a phone on full retail, and I don't want to go through the hassle of trying to sell the Bionic for more than I paid for it and then figuring out how to make up the difference. . . Full HD is my biggest motivator, too.
