Bionic all the way. A true no brainer.

What??!!

How is the Bionic a true no brainer?

Prime got bluetooth certification yesterday, headed to Verizon soon. Bionic is going to fall behind on processor, screen, and android version probably in 6 or 7 weeks after it comes out.

And like people have already said, when icecream sandwich comes out, the buttons will be useless.

Bionic is cool, but not a no brainer.

Honestly, what "must have" Android phones have been released in 2011 in the US? It's just been single core LTE and modest 3G dual core updates of existing phones for the most part. The Bionic is a "must have" phone but if you've waited 8 months since CES another 2-3 months for 1.5Ghz dual core and 720p displays doesn't seem like that much longer.

Not necessarily. While waiting all this time, for example, my DROID's WiFi has gone on the blink, as of sometime around the beginning of this month.

I'm in need of an upgrade now.

If I could wait...

I could wait another 2 years by that rationale. At some point you have to pick a point and jump in.

Bionic is a no brainer for people who want a phone a soon as possible. Now, if the Prime/Vigor were to launch on the same day...then most people will probably go with the latter two devices.

And to me and probably others, the buttons will never be useless. We'll find a way to use them by remapping it for games or shortcuts. :D

So is icecream sandwich going to be like the iphone where theres just one button and the rest is all touchscreen, or will it all be touchscreen? I hate that about the iphone, i much prefer the 4 buttons. Anyway, i completely forgot that the Prime is supposed to have a ridiculous 4.6 inch screen or something like that. I dont want a screen that big. Im finally feeling better about getting the Bionic next week.

I think they will get the extra 0.3 inches from the lack of physical buttons on the front of the device. I think it's gonna be an all screen look which I think will be neat. However, I like I said before I don't mind the buttons because I'll find a way to use them.

Do you think that once ICS is on the phone, the capacitive buttons will still work? I hope so. I'm so torn. I want a phone NOW, and the Bionic is going to be on sale in just 1 week!

But I like the idea of an all-screen phone, too.

Dang it. I wish I was patient.

My take is that I need a phone now. I'm not waiting another month or two if I don't have to. Also, just how much better is the Droid Prime going to be for my needs? It only has a 5mp camera as opposed to the Bionic's 8mp. I know that's not the end all be all, but considering camera phones are all limited, I think the extra three megapixels will be a factor. And that camera is important to me.

1.5GHz dual core sure is tempting. But is it necessary? I've never needed to OC a phone with a stock 1GHz phone as they've been plenty fast. Also, how will that affect battery life?

Speaking of battery life, what is the 720p 4.5" screen gonna do to that? How bout the LTE chip vs. Motorola's? I know I can get an extra battery and charger when I get my Bionic through Costco, so this helps console any future buyer's remorse. I can't even say for sure that the Droid Prime will be sold at Costco, and I wouldn't expect a bundle to come with it if it does. So bang for buck adds to it.

I have no issue with anyone wanting the DP. It's all about your needs in a phone vs how long you're willing to wait. These are both Verizon Android phones. Options is why we chose Android over iOS. Embrace the brotherhood!

Ok, one more side note, I think instead of calling it the Droid Prime, that they should instead call it the Droid Nexus. The perfect marriage between the Droid and Nexus lineups.

My guess it would still work because the Nexus S has capacitive buttons and google wouldn't do that to their own phone.

You know, this poll is fairly accurate. Most of the people who voted on still getting the Bionic probably feels the same as you do, Yankee. The Bionic is still going to be a bad a** phone plus we sorta have seen it perform already in terms of speed and battery life. A lot of people are already sick of waiting. I am guessing the people who voted "no" have a little time left on their upgrade or they just can't stand knowing that there will be a better phone in "maybe" a month or so and they will feel that they are stuck with a phone that isn't the best. Then they'll have to read all these articles and posts on how the Vigor or the Prime is so much better than the Bionic. It's an ego thing. lol.

Tell me this isn't true! Don't lie all of you non Bionic supporters. :p

(BTW- I'm totally joking, ok. Don't get all offended with my last sentence)

I've decided I am officially waiting. I don't have an immediate need. I love everything I've read about Bionic and I really do feel Moto has the best build quality. But since I bought a used Thunderbolt off contract, all I really have to deal with is three battery changes a day. I still have 4G, Nav and, oh yeah, a phone. I hate TB. I hated it when I bought it on launch day and returned it a week later. Had to buy a used one before July to nail down unlimited data.

I am going to have the luxury of reading what you Bionic early adopters have to report and then comparing it side-by-side with Prime/SGII LTE or whatever they call it. I care more about having a reliable, snappy, feature-packed, battery-lovin', OEM/carrier supported device than what size, shape, color or name it has...although Droid Bionic is the coolest name out there!

I will be so envious next week when I read all feedback from you happy Bionic owners. I hate you guys! :-P Looking forward to 9/8!

Was gonna wait for the next best thing... but if I pursue that, I'll keep waiting and looking forever. The Bionic will be the latest and greatest on its release day, and that's what I'm aiming to get. Just gonna need side blinders and a pic of a Bionic in front of me from here on out. All this talk of Prime and what not is kinda making me insane...

Those with patience shall be rewarded ten fold.

Of course they will, if I waited 10 years I could get a holographic phone and not pay a dime for any other phone!!!

But then, a week after THAT phone comes out I could get that quantum processor phone I have been wanting!!!

There is always something better that will come around the corner, just gotta decide when to make that leap.

If the bionic came in august or july, I would have gotten it. Same with the SGSII.

September? Too late, getting the Vigor or Prime instead. If a phone with better specs comes out a month later, then I will just wait the time. If the next phone to be better than the prime comes 2 months later, then I'm just going to get the prime.

One thing to keep in mind is that Motorola went the Apple route on this phone.

Which is, keep refining and refining the software to match it tightly with the hardware. That takes time and resources. It's also why you get 15 hour battery life on the device. If that was as easy as simply sticking a bigger battery in, don't you think HTC and Samsung would have done so?

There's a reason that Apple only releases one phone a year. This sort of engineering takes time.

Don't be fooled by specs. Almost all android phones have better specs than Apple phones, yet why do you think Apple phones work so well?

Years of refinement, plus consistency. They don't have to support multiple phones with multiple softwares across multiple carriers.

Apple? One line of phones, all on the same version, and only 2 carriers.

Easy as pie.

Motorola, however, takes longer, but that doesn't mean that they can't produce the same results.

The Bionic is going to be awesome, and it's going to be mine.

Just about two~three months ago, some impatient folks tired of waiting for Bionic jumped onto DX2, Dinc2, D3. So now how does that look on the eve of Bionic launch? Right now Bionic looks like the phone to get on Verizon. But once Prime, Vigor (Incredible HD) hit verizon, how would Bionic look like next to them? Prime's major selling points are HD screen and ICS from get go. Not sure how long before Bionic gets updated to ICS.

I can say this, there are three phones that VZW is really excited about for the remainder of this year.

Prime isn't one of them.

And neither is the Vigor.

Hmm, what makes you think they won't be excited about Droid Prime?

And what are other two phones? I can see iPhone5 is one of them but it's irrelevant to me.

Possibly because they may not be LTE as some "rumors" say they are. or maybe its because they may get delayed to next year, so that it wont even be in consideration. or maybe VZW may not even getting Prime at all.

Going to want to tether so I'm gonna have to wait till either the Bionic is ROMed or something all ready to roll is on the shelf.

I would have liked an x with GSM ffc and froyo. I would never have looked back. well simultaneous voice and data will be cool as GSM is probably out.

I think VZW will get a "prime" like phone but who knows when. VZW is notoriously slow in releasing top notch phones or not releasing them at all. I suggest to anyone on the fence... if you see a good deal on the bionic buy the bionic then sell it when the prime or vigor gets released.
