Was wondering if anyone else got this. Looks like it was recently released. I'm running icyfusion as my DD. Thoughts?

Saw that it was released.... Not sure if anything significant was changed... Neph has a link to cab, was going to tear it apart... TBH, its likely just removed bloat and the masterkey exploit fix.

If you have the update... before changing back to anything else, I highly recommend doing a DD of the radio partition and sending the image to TDM (for his radios thread) just in case something changed.

I moved it to my SD card and will look into doing this when I get to my computer. Thanks

I woke up to my phone automatically downloading the update (but didn't run as it failed, no suprise due to being rooted), though it is rooted via the pwnage all in one tool, which I found odd... Currently though I am running stock with some minor tweaks for battery efficiency and customization, out of curiosity if I wanted to just get the newest crap update to eliminate some of the stupid apps I've had to freeze but still have in the list, what would one have to do? I have an old nandroid made, but would need a most current one I'd assume just in case... Would I have to unroot then reroot to get everything updated? And if so what would I lose that the nandroid wouldn't bring back? Thanks for helping a blonde noob in advance =)

I believe to take the OTA update you would have to unroot the Spectrum and back to stock , a Nandroid back up would bring back the root since you had to root and install CWM recovery to produce a Nandroid . I believe also that one way to unroot is by using LG update software (from LG Spectrum support website) and choose the "Recovery ...." option . It would upgrade your phone to the latest update and set it back at Stock .

If you unlocked your bootloader and/or installed a custom recovery, I believe you have to revert both of those before you can take the update. If you want to stick with Stock but want the update, I would

1. grab a tool like Titanium Backup *ROOT
2. take a backup of all your apps/data
3. Restore to stock via the LG Update tool (this will, by default, restore you to the latest stock, so this will include the V9 update)
4. Use the pwnage tool to *only* root your device
5. Reinstall your backup tool of choice (e.g. TiBu) and restore any apps/data you want

If you're staying stock, I don't think I would recommend unlocking the bootloader (breaking bluetooth) just to install a custom recovery. You can do some pretty decent backups with ADB and/or TiBu.

My $0.02

FWIW, I'm running PACE 4.4 beta, so take all my advice with a grain of salt :)

Right now I'm rather undecided, I hate to go to all that trouble for trivial little things and then have to change all my settings both generally and app specific... Hoping to get everyone's opinion and experience with the new stuff before I choose. Right now everything works decent, I don't want to risk screwing it all up over one really mediocre update...

If I remember correctly I thought there was a pretty important reason you have to unlock the boot loader during root, I need to reread to get familiar with the process again... I tried the titanium backup but really hated having no idea what needed to be done and how to do it just to realize I needed to buy the ultimate version for backing up, so I gave up on it =/ its there any way to save how you have your apps configured and general settings as well? It just seems like a major process to me...

..just did the update 920zv9 , the latest firmware upgrade by LG . Did the Recovery Upgrade , download was about 532 mb (about) ,it erased root and set it to Stock . The upgrade did not wiped the apps ( such as root checker, quickboot, chess free etc) that I had installed before recovery upgrade andf also the wallpaper remained as well . The new Weather Widget is much better , has a modern look . some more bloatware was gone I think ...the feel its a little more " buttery" not quite as Jellybean but a little better than before. Was hoping that Verizon had finally unlocked the GSM radios but I tried with a TMobile sim card and was a no go , still locked . Overall I think the update freed some more ram memory for general computing and performance got better ( again , not at the same level that Cyangenmod 10.1.3 Jellybean ) . Now I have to return root and recovery CWM to flash the 4.3 with super butter. I really like that Accuweather Widget ....

that's awesome! Thank you for the first hand input, if it makes the stock a little bit more streamlined I think I'm interested. how did you originally root your phone? Did you use the all in one pwnage tool? and you just went to the lg website and downloaded the recovery update, then synced that to your phone is that right? and it unrooted for you? Then you rerooted with the one tool again? and all of your apps and settings that everything stayed the same except for those directly related to root access? did you use either titanium or a nandroid backup? sorry for a hundred questions, I just want to be a hundred percent sure what I'm doing before I do it, and the consequences...

I used Spectrum Pawnage tool , for rooting and installing CWM recovery . Sometimes you have to run it from the..c:(computer ) folders. For the Recovery Upgrade ..go to LG phones support , find Spectrum vs920 and download drivers and LG update software ...run software and when open go to the option of "recovery upgrade". The software will do everything no need to do anything bsides clicking on "start upgrade". First it will download the 523 ?mb for the stock rom , then will extract it and turned phone into download mode ...then it will install new update of zv9 . Make sure you do not disconnect phone from PC , once it starts it cannot be stopped . I guess that for rerooting and cwm recovery installing the same procedure will be needed ( Spectrum Pawnage Tool) . The backup or Nandroid can only be done after Rerooting and reinstalling CWM recovery (bootloader unlocking , which will break your Bluetooth ). You can do a Nandroid afterwards , reboot into recovery mode to do that. The recovery upgrade installed the new vz9 update (baseband) . I do not use Titanium , couldn't tell you about it. I use CWM for recovery. Its all possible to those great guys like TDM, Deathtoall,Azoller,Neph1..and many others that put great effort in all of this....can never stop thanking them..

Ok, just rerooted and reinstalled CWM recovery (Clockwork) using the Spectrum Pawnage Tool and all went well . Updated the phone to the vz9 update and it brought back my downloaded apps without doing any backup , same wallpaper that I had before and I believe most if not all of my old settings and customs also returned. The best thing its a little better in performance and the Widget for the weather that updates weather faster and looks sleeker.

vz9 update also fixed the brightness setting , now after rebooting doesn't default to 100% brightness...stays in whatever level of brightness you set it , even after reboots..really hated that everytime after rebooting phone it will defaulted to maximum brightness .

Seriously awesome information, you all are amazing! I agree, they have mastered and done things I never could have imagined possible! I've decided to go for it, emergency back up phone at the ready in case of disaster, one day this week when I have time to focus on it. Since you have done exactly what I plan to do I trust it works and is worth the effort, I'm just really inexperienced with all this, any other helpful tips besides all those above? And thank you thank you thank you for being patient and explaining it all to me, I really appreciate it! =)

This is the ics update we should've got instead of zv7. I've had good battery life. And very little lag. I took the update 3 days ago. No cm Rom has kept me this happy. Might be ages late. But LG finally did something right for us. If only we could get jellybean

The Intuition has NFC though, which with the release of ISIS, means that they are going to try and keep customers in those model phones for a while longer. It'd be nice if we received JB some day, but only because I'd want to the drivers to help improve our CM ROMs.

I am not sure this is the place to mention this, but...........
I was using the LG tool last week. I must have forgot to disable the modem file in device manager, as per instructions, because I automatically received ZV9 using the tool. Ever since then, (never had a problem before this), play store will not work.

Yesterday I cab flashed back to ZV8, and it still doesn't work. Iv'e tried clearing cache and data (in the play store app), deleting my gmail account and opening a new one, uninstalling play store and all associated programs and reflashing GAPPS, it seems as if I've tried everything. Some suggestions on the web also suggested looking for download or download manager to be disabled, and to clear cache in those also, but that didn't work either.

This morning I still can't use Play Store. The message I get ALWAYS is "Unfortunately, Google Play has Stopped". Anyone else experiencing this? Like I said it started happening right after taking the ZV9 download. HELP!

(Thank you) LOL

Sounds like you have some funky/corrupt data going on. I would root and then use Titanium Backup to delete all wipe data for just that app. If that doesn't work, you may need to do a clean sweep of all system data and start fresh. There is a slim possibility of it being a permissions issue, but if you .cab flashed, that shouldn't be the case.
The part about the modem shouldn't have been an issue and was in the instructions as most people who had issues getting windows to see there phone, could fix the issue by disabling that item.

Forgive me if this has a really simple answer, but I am a Mac/Linux person attempting my upgrade on a PC laptop for the weekend (from work) because I thought it would be easier. I feel like I am missing something here. I went to the LG Spectrum page and was able to download drivers, but the only Update tool I found was on a download site, called B2CAppSetup, which installs LG Mobile Update. When it runs, it does not find the phone (I tried every single type of connection from the phone, debugging enabled, restarting PC between tries). When I try to use said tool to download a driver there is none listed for the vs920, just up through the 910. Also, I know I have the latest drivers successfully installed - I am able to run Pawnage Tool to root and install CWM.

Also, I have used CWM Touch to wipe caches, dalvik, and formatted back to stock but still have root.

My other attempt was to take the OTA, but I get stopped by CWM Touch.. what is the best way to unroot so I can start all over with a stock Spectrum and take the update? I see on the Pawnage Tool thread that someone was successful at rerooting with the tool on v9.

5 minutes later... I restart the phone while connected in mass storage, PC installs drivers. I switch to internet:ethernet and see the debug icon on the phone. PC installs more drivers. By this point I had reinstalled the support tool on PC. Suddenly, as the last of the 8 drivers are installed, the program connects to my phone.... WTF? I seriously have been doing every conceivable combination since about 4am this morning... aaaaaaaand this is why I went to Mac 10 years ago. So, please disregard my post above, but maybe knowing the order I accomplished the task may help another noobie like me.

Thanks!

If you're on ICS with the unlocked kernel, the LG update tool will not see your phone while it's running. You need to be in "download mode" first" in order for the LG tool to see the phone. Alternatively, you could also flash a stock GB based ROM as those could be seen by the LG tool while running.

At KTCfun..sometimes the tip of the micro usb connector is loose and hookup is intermittent . If a physical connection between hardware don't occur the phone will not be detected. If this were to happen during " Upgrade " it might brick phone. The LG Spectrum VZ9 baseband will not cause any corruption of data , LG says it will enhance performance and rid phone of some more bloatware .
