i tried 4g this morning at school. it connected, but never gave me an ip or mac address. i checked my mac address and it was not what was on my box.

Ah, so you had the mac address of the broken phone; is that what happened? I would have suggested the fix you used, but obviously you already knew about that. Were you able to get 4g to stay on yet? Are you trying with a widget or by going to wireless settings? What ROM(s) have you tried this on?

im using cm 6.1.2 wimax alpha 2.

yes, i was using switch widget pro and it was turning it off. grrrr now im just going to settings > wireless.

Why don't you just try it on a Sense ROM? I think you're throwing too many different changes at it at one time to figure out what is going wrong.

i went to a known 4g area and all i can get to is "authenticating with sprint" and then back to scanning

i flashed cm7 nightly 11 last night. i did not install gapps and i was able to connect to 4g. now that i have installed gapps and logged in, im back to not able to connect. i have not tried to connect today. its on my to do list!
