Root Some questions about new rom flash

velocity

Newbie
I have amon 2.3 and I am about to go from kings unleashed to Kinged Kingdom which seems like a big jump to me. I want to make sure I have a solid backup before I do it. Right now I am thinking backup everything but sd-ext and .android_secure. I am not sure what .android_secure is though.

Also I read that with these new roms it is suggested to partition the SD and I was going to follow this guide. Will that work correctly with kinged kingdom? Does it include the custom a2sd version I need to make it work? Anything else I am missing?

Android secure is where the native apps 2 sd is. ALl apps moved to the sd card will be stored here. My suggestion is to backup everything, put an X next to all.

Ok running my nandroid now. So does anyone know if the custom app2sd comes with kinged kingdom or do I need to get it from somewhere?

do not mix up app2sd with a2sd. they are different.

app2sd was a feature in froyo and now gingerbread where only parts of the app is moved to your sd card. that is why the widgets for that app will not work when the app is moved to the card.

a2sd is a script that is either flashed or is cooked in to the rom. apps are then stored in its entirety on the card.

and yes kinged kingdom rom does have a2sd. when in doubt check the change logs to see if it is supported or not.
