Root Something Useful for the Rooted

argedion

The TechnoFrog
I have come across this information this morning. A new Program I feel could be helpful to those of us who have rooted and have nandroids that we left stuff on that we desperately would like to get back. Warning: This is not my work. I am only sharing someone elses work.

Nandroid Browser.
From the Market
Nandroid Browser has a really simple purpose: Extract and use single files from your nandroid backups.* Browse your nandroid backups
* Save files anywhere
* Send files
* Open Files
Easily install single apps from your nandroid backups.
Easily email single apps and files from your nandroid backups or send them to your dropbox or wherever...
Currently supports nandroid backups stored as yaffs2 images (.img) as wells as ext4 images (.ext4.tar).
Should work with ClockWorkMod (CWM) backups and many others that use standard nandroid.

Hey, thanks for sharing my app :)
BTW: It also works on unrooted phones :)

Feel free to post any feedback here on on the original XDA thread: [APP] Nandroid Browser - xda-developers

i love it when any devs take the time out of their busy life and join our little forum. i just want to thank you for this app. i just downloaded it and will be playing with it.

+5 for Akazabam Unandroid.It has been a regular part of my phone since I found it back in October. I used to keep the link in my sig. It's very easy to use and works great.

I still have to try this program out. I have downloaded it but its been a very hectic week at work. So I haven't gotten the chance to really play with it. Looks like a decent GUI option for those afraid to use CLI.

Just got TB-pro, and "browsing" around its functions, i noticed under menu->more->

"extract from nandroid backup"

is this different...?

yes slightly different. tb will only pull apps and not files. akazabam's script and this nandroid browser can pull anything out of the nandroid backup. it is pretty cool you get to see the system partitions and you can even pull out the apk's for any system apps. but you can pull the apps out like tb can with that feature, however. i have not time yet to really explore this app.
