Sony Playstation 1 (PSX) on Android working and coming soon!

Got this last night and managed to get it working with .bin files quite happily by following a guide over ad XDA-Dev. I have tried G-T, FF-VII and Wipeout so far all working very happily on HTC Desire. Some sound glitching and I think the FPS could probably be faster, but it's an excellent start and well worth the $6.

Running SNESoid was bad enough for me. I'm just gonna go a limb here and say its gonna be shit on my CLIQ. but seriously, i have been waiting for this for a long time. So i still suggest anyone that has the hardware to support it to go for it. Please support the developers. Even though it might not be perfect right now, it will get better with updates as well.

God i wish the Vibrant had a keyboard, i guess its the waiting game for the epic 4g :) This is worth the upgrade.

I haven't tried with a nunchuck. I use wiimote + wiimote classic using the wiimote controller app from the market (its free). Wont work on some phones. You should research that first.

This is the same setup I'm using. WORKS LIKE A CHARM

is telling him not to buy yet not sound advice?
this isnt based on me struggling to get it working, its based on me trying some games on it and in my opinion isnt worth the money at this time. ive kept it and havnt refunded.

Really? As you wrote this yesterday in another thread about this app:

no matter what i try i cant get any of the bios bin files to work so am refunding.

People keep mentioning hardware acceleration fixing things, but can't find anything saying that the dev is actually implementing this. Can someone point me to a link showing that he is going to get hardware acceleration working? Looking at youtube videos of misc games on a Droid X, I'm not sure I'd be happy with the lag/low-fps issues.

Ok maybe a stupid question but I've only started using Video Game Roms and Emulators a few days ago so I'm a complete noob.
Where do I find PSX Roms, I've googled it and every site I go to doesn't work, for SNES, NES, Sega etc.. I've been using Roms4Droid, but they dont' have a playstation rom section that I see at least

You have to either rip them from any playstation CD's you happen to have, or download them illegally. Obviously, no-one will want to advise on how to do the latter on a public forum though. The same goes for getting the BIOS files needed for the emulator to actually work, but if you google the BIOS is very easy to find anyway. The games however are harder to get.

As for the query about hardware acceleration, TBH I doubt it'll happen, as every phone is different, with different CPU's, graphical capabilities, etc. This means it'd be pretty hard to implement, as code that will work with one handset may make another run worse, etc. The thing that will help is the author tweaking and optimising the emulator, and maybe adding more options for the graphics so we can tweak it ourselves. As has been said, this is only the very first release, and I doubt the author will just leave this project alone now it's out and making money.

you guys with slow fps, the problem is not mainly with the program but with the hardware you guys are using. I am running everything flawlessly on my Galaxy S. Full Screen. I've tried the games below. Time to upgrade! Get the Galaxy S guys, whatever carrier you might have. This phone is going to have some dev support at an epic proportion. Way to go Samsung.

Works

Gran Turismo 2
SIlent Hill
Super Puzzle Fighter Turbo

Doesn't Work

Metal Gear Solid

007 Tomorrow Never Dies works with Mytouch 3G 1.2

It lags a bit and sound is rather choppy but it works none the less

Yeah I was really hoping SOTN would work well, but I think the music playing is the overload in that one.

Anyone else get stuck on "Authorizing purchase"? After about 30 minutes I tried to download another paid application as a test. The other application processed and downloaded within 30 seconds, while this one remains stuck on authorizing. Anyone have any suggestions?

So far I've tried:
Signing into Google Talk
Canceling and restarting the download
Canceling, refunding, and repurchasing

Hey does anyone know if you can use the wii gamepad pro with this and other emulators? I heard somewhere only the gamepad works.

I know that the Wii Wireless Controller IME app (search the app store for "wii") has support for the the classic controller extension but NOT the Classic PRO extension. The basic WiiMote works as well from what I understand

*BIG* BUT keep in mind, this utility that allows use of the Wii controller does NOT work with phones that use the HTC Sense UI. At least this is what i've seen reported.

I am afraid this may be more correct than we want to know. That said, based on how well some games work, there must be some basic acceleration going on already. Perhaps the dev can find some common resource ground, or add some extra graphic tweak options :)

This app is an "A" already.

Update:

Though the OMAP and Hummingbird 3D drivers are not open sourced, HTC released the drivers as open source for Snapdragon two months ago. Perhaps the dev can add Snapdragon driver support and some of the function may be common to the other chipsets?

Those games also play smooth with sound on my Inc. Even the Ridge Racers and Crash Racing play smooth with sound :)

One that does not play at good framerates for me is Dead or Alive. Could you try the game out and report back? Plays slow- even with sound off. Tekken 3 plays at about 70% speed with sound.

yeah i'm currently stuck with "Authorising payment" but i have seen in another forum an email response from ZodTTD about this exact issue and there is nothing he can do as its google checkout ... i guess just keep trying. I have tried the same as above (restarting d/l, getting refund and repurchasing) but same thing so i might just leave it over night and hope.

Sounds absolutely brilliant though from what i've read. I mean everything needs a few minor tweaks at first so this sounds like a great effort straight away!

Hi, new here so forgive me if I cock up anything.

Got this last night, got some ROMs now, Colin McRae Rally, Gran Turismo 2 (Sim Disc) and Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2. They all load up fine on my stock HTC Desire with 2.1. It's just once I get in to the games with each I have problems.

1. Colin McRae - just seems like the framerate is really slow and unresponsive.
2. Gran Turismo 2 - I go in to the License part, start it and it stops straight away and gives me a gold medal. Without me doing anything? I know I shouldn't complain but I can't test anything on it until I get a license.
3. Tony Hawk - It plays fine, but the textures hardly load so I'm skating over plain white/yellow surfaces.

I've seen on here people with the Desire have got their ROMs working fine, I was just wondering is there any settings they've put on that makes it work, or if it's just dodgy ROMs I've got? Any help will be appreciated.
