Root Speed Tweaks + More

Thanks very much aaronmy! I applied the changed to my Admire and can notice a distinct improvement in it's speed. So now I have a question or two regarding the wifi tweaks that save battery. Is there a way to go the other direction, giving the adapter more power rather than less? Or can I just remove those lines in the code and set my wifi back to normal? They don't appear to be modifications of the stock build prop but rather additions to it but I am a noob who knows very little.

Oh and as an afterthought, don't fuss with the screen density, I changed mine a couple of weeks ago using Rom Toolbox and it killed my phone app for 5 days until I finally figured out how to get it back. This after trying about a dozen different fixes that just made matters worse. So yeah, leave that at 160.

Okay thanks again,

Zeke

it was a modification that should have been in the build and no you cannot change it for more wifi power,

and yes it was approximately around there

will the supercharge script from xda work for this phone? I am going to be rooted one of these phones today for a friend, so addicted to rooting android phones. :)

Well the only noticible difference I see is I'm getting text slower....Before I would send them with itouch textfree I'd receive them instantly, now it's like 30 secs..

USB debugging also was removed..
By removed what do you mean? the rest was pretty self explanatory that one I'm curious about though. Cause I'd love to give the little admire a boost as far 3g goes. The rest would be useful sure. Thanks for explaining it to me I'm probably just overlooking the obvious after work all night.

I completed this tweak using ES File Explorer (Free) and backed up my original build.prop to the SD card and to my computer. The phone seems faster and more responsive, but I am not sure about data speeds.

I am using PRL 3026 and ran a speed test using FCC Test (in Atlanta using Atlanta, GA server) and got these averaged results:
Down speed: 54 kbps avg.
Up speed: 75 kbps avg.
Latency: 140 ms avg.

I did the FCC test 4 times and averaged the results to get the info above.

Signal strength varies from -76 dBm to -65 dBm.

there was the 3G tweaks at the top.
at the bottom starting at ro.home_app_adj=1 the codes were added to fixed home lags, used photos full quality, enhanced videos, increased scrolling quality, delay for ringer, increased time for wifi scanning, and performance. USB debugging also was removed. i enabled mediastagefright and upped the vm heap size.

what would I change if I wanted to keep USB debugging? since some of the systems apps I use need USB debugging to work.

edit: oh USB Debugging is still there you just removed the icon for it? just to clarify.

okay I just updated to your build prop and one issue I am finding is I have A LOT of apps on my SD Card and when I boot my phone it would search my sd card and re-link all the shortcuts and what not but now it doesnt, what would I change in the build prop to get this back, Im sure its the new build prop because when I go back to the original the problem goes away.

Edit: Nevermind it took just a really long time but everything else seems to be faster.

edit 2: well this is a tough call, I am using speed test to test the network speed and well compared to the original build prob I am getting A LOT more connection errors then before and as for my speed in most situations its reporting slower, connecting to the same server as previous, now there is a lot of outside variables that come into play with this so Im going to run it periodically through out the day and write down the results and then average it out and then go back to the original prop and do the same and see what the results are.

my internet speed is 9493KBPS DL, 3123KBPS UL..damnnn lol..thats 30MS ping
thats with the tweaks and a server thats, eh 150 miles away about

thank you for the compressed file :)

WHERE DO YOU LEARN HOW TO DO ALL THIS? I keep reading about these tweaks and I never see a newbie guide at all. It's pissing me off, not knowing how to do anything!

> Root phone
> Get ES Explorer or Root Explorer
> Mount 'System' as R/W, NOT R/O
> Go to /system/
> Open "Build.prop" with a Text Editor
> View, Edit, use only approved changes.

Dave, are you running 2.3.4 or 2.3.6?

2.3.4. I opened ES and didn't see "system"

I have not tried es explorer, but if it is like file expert, you have to choose "file" or "file system" then choose "internal memory" . Once in the internal memory you will be able to find the system folder. Double check that system folder is mounted as read/write when you are ready to copy the zip file there or edit the existing one.

I am not overly experienced and hope that this might help. Good luck.

whats there to do to get rid of the huge lag in-between sending texts? like if i send a text, then right after that start typing another one, theres a hugeee lag
