Spontaneous/Random Logouts

Well this is a new (to me) twist on the re-login issue that comes along now and then: this time, upon clicking "new posts" in the "New Posts" drop down menu, I was logged out and taken to the big generic login page (should have done a screeny) where I had to fill in the user name and password text field blanks.

The other ones I'd seen were just the front page with the user name and password in the smaller, upper right corner at the top, with the big forum menus, etc.

Fwiw, I allow all cookies for this site.
 
Phew, I thought it was just me! It's been happening almost daily for a week or two - I was starting to think that Phases was having some fun at my expense. ;)
 
..now it's logging me in as Android Forums - View Profile: Stopsignhank. :eek:

As soon as I visited that profile, I was Frisco again.

Who's this "Frisco" doood? :D

Kidding aside, the glitchy stuff is getting strange.

I'm on my laptop using Firefox on Windows 7, atm.
 
I've gotten this a couple times myself in the last few days.... Weirdness ensued.

I've had the same problem on my laptop running windows 7 and chrome.

The big sign in thing hasn't happened for me yet.
 
Well, that's reminiscent of a bug that vic introduced a while back accidentally - it actually just displays that name for you, but doesn't let you in the account.

:)

At least, that's what I understand.

If it helps, I usually will go to New Posts or Unanswered Threads and use CTRL-Click to open 8-10 new tabs for threads I'm interested in. Scan the thread and possible reply or thank. Then I'll CRTL-F4 to close the tab and move to the next until I am back at the tab with the homepage. It was after I cleared the 8-10 tabs and was back at the home-page that it did an auto refresh and logged me out. I wonder if I am borking the "currently viewing" thing you see on my profile page.
 
I've gone back to the homepage to fine myself logged out twice now, but a refresh of the page fixed it, I my case.

I don't think that matters. I do that all the time and it doesn't usually correlate with a log out.

Same here. If I go into a thread and find I'm logged out, I can hit the back button, then refresh, then enter the thread without a problem.

I think our cookies need milk! :eek:
 
I think the ads / logouts and other quirks are cookie related. I seemed to have them in bunches both times I changed colors (I went blue / gold / green in February, so maybe I just noticed more).

It's hard to test, as the issue is so random, few and far between.
