Root [Sprint/Cricket] Just rooted. Suggestions?

Just flashed cm and by following your guys directions I once again had zero issues :)

Super light, fast and no bloat!!!! Very pleased!!!!

Thank you dragon and rxpert for the walkthrough!

Nice! :D

Did you go with one of the stable releases or the nightlies?

Yeah aosp is great. So much faster. I had been running it since the og evo days. I would also try slim and eclipse. Those were staples on the Gnex.

The only thing I notice is that when I send texts it just says "sending". The texts actually go through but it bugs me that it says sending. Is there a fix for this or should I just install a third party SMS? Thanks

Yeah, that seems like it was some sort of fluke with yesterdays nightly.

Bad timing that it happened to be the first time you tried CM.

But now as you've seen- nightlies have all the latest & coolest features, but that can temporarily break some other things before they get it all ironed out.

I see and I have to get used to the updates. Question: I saw in settings about updates. When is it safe to update? *the texting does still work for now so it's not a huge issue.* BTW what is the difference between nightlies and stable versions?

If you go to settings > updates there's a place there to check for updates. You can accept those.

Nightlies are the newest code that gets added into cm every night. You get so features that aren't in the stable versions yet, but they also may have bugs.

Stable is just the opposite. Only the tried and true options. Less buggy

Thank you. So is it okay to stay on nightlies? As of now I think it runs pretty solid. Texting thing is the only glitch.

Yep, I run the nightlies as well.:)

If you haven't found it yet, one of the coolest features is to add a camera tile to the quick settings menu pull down.

That sounds cool  I'm so glad I took a dive into rooting! I can't go back to tw and bloat. Cm is awesome

Have you heard of miui?

Whenever you get ready for another flash, if your into trying out something completely different, it's something I'd recommend trying.

I didn't think I'd like it at first (flashed yesterday), surprisingly is growing on me.

Very cool setup!!! I'll definitely look into it once I'm ready for another flash!

So....I'm running that cyanogenmod ROM and I was thinking of going back to TPR since this current ROM isn't a stable version. I downloaded the ROM but when I went to flash it I didn't see it on the internal card. Fortunately I didn't wipe anything. I checked everything beforehand and saw there wasn't anything on the internal card. My question is: how on earth do I get back to the peoples ROM or any other ROM for that matter? I'm possibly thinking of trying out a stable version of liquid smooth. Don't get me wrong I like cm and how it doesn't have bloat with it. Is there a way I can either update this ROM or something? Thanks for the help :-)

Did you make a nandroid before flashing cyanogen? Restoring that nandroid would be the easiest.

If not, you've got to find out where the ROM file got downloaded to

As far as updating cm, its got an OTA update system build onto it. Simply go to settings updates and check for new updates. You can even set preferences to have it ignore the nightly versions and only check for stable of you prefer

:( the only time I did a nandroid backup was the very first time I tried to flash chemistry ROM. I just backed up the current cm ROM to the internal SD card. What if I had wiped everything and not had anything to flash? Bricked phone? I hope I'm not stuck. I've checked for updates but it says no updates available. It gives me 10.1.1 and 10.1.2 to download but I think it's under the "stable only" section of the updates. Are these OK to download?

Also, I downloaded the newest nightly from the site you gave me but again I checked out my internal SD card in recovery and it wasn't showing. I can't find where I downloaded this stuff to :(

Hey I am back on TPR! Thank you for letting me know about the 0! :)

No problem. That was probably something I should have thought of and mentioned sooner.:o

Android 4.2 has its own internal card inside of the 0 folder. So things you would store on the internal card on 4.2 actually end up inside of that 0 folder.
