Help Sprint htc evo 4g email problems

Hello,

First, thanks for reading this thread. Try to make this short and to the point. I have 3 email accounts on my phone. I deleted my hotmail account and was going to add it back later in the day. When I deleted the account, my phone was taking longer than normal to delete the account. Then my phone rang and I did a few other things before returning to the original screen.
Now, The email is gone but when I try to add it, I get the WARNING message that states "Warning, this account already exists". The first few times I hit the Mail Icon it just took me to the "ADD ACCOUNT" Section. I rebooted and took out the battery. So I figured I'd delete the other email accounts as well in hopes of fixing it. That did not work. Please help!!!
The email account is gone but when I try to add it, I get the WARNING message. Thanks for your time, I really could use the help!!!
Jason

Hey there... I successfully deleted the other 2 accounts and added them back. Unfortunately my Hotmail still gives me the WARNING message that the account already exists.
I rebooted
went to Manage Apps and cleared out the cache for MAIL
I still cannot add it! Any suggestions????

Oh and btw, I still get the notifications at the top of the display screen for that Hotmail, yet when I try to open it, the CHOOSE A MAIL PROVIDER SCREEN appears..... Strange??

I don't believe I have any email accounts synced with each other. I've always had to click on the different accounts to read emails..... Any other ideas???

Oh and by the way, I seem to be having the same problems with the other accounts too... All are the POP style email accounts... (Yahoo, GMAIL, Hotmail). I've deleted them all and now I have nothing..... Except the WARNING THIS EMAIL ALREADY EXISTS.... Please help

So are there any email icons in your app drawer?
What about in menu/settings/accounts & sync...what is listed there?

I checked in the menu/settings/accounts & sync... There I just saw the 2 boxes checked for BACKGROUND DATA and AUTO SYNC. Other than that, just my google account showed up.
In my app drawer it shows GMAIL icon and the MAIL icon. And I still at this moment get the MAIL icon at the top of the display screen but when I click on it, the CHOOSE A MAIL PROVIDER SCREEN pops up......
So CONFUSED??

When I am in the MANAGE APPLICATIONS setting and go to ALL applications, the MAIL icon still shows 80 MEGS being used so as before, completely confused. And I cannot delete it, yet I cannot add or access it either......

In my ACCOUNTS & SYNC it shows my Google with my email address on it. The circle with the arrows is not highlighted so I think it means it is not synced.
In my APP DRAWER I still have the GMAIL ICON ENVELOPE AND just plain MAIL ICON like normal......

Did you clear data and clear cache in the manage applications/all/email?

I went to exactly to Manage Applications to ALL and then scrolled down and cleared out GMAIL and MAIL. I do not have anything that says EMAIL just to clarify.

Like Rxpert said, a factory reset may be your only option.

Try this, go to settings > applications, tap the 'all' tab. Scroll down to Google Services Framework. Clear the data and restart your phone.

I wish I could say it helped.... But I cannot... I truly appreciate the help....
Ok, so what now... complete reset ??
If so, I could care less about most of it except 3 thing I'm unsure about...
1. I'd like to back up my text messages
2. I want to keep all my contacts ((and if possible, their contact picture)). I do have GMAIL and every time I add someone to my phone book as a new contact it shows my gmail icon being used to add them so I'm hoping that stays the same.
3. My calendar is defintely the most important to me as I have numerous reminders and dates in it already. I believe it's a google calendar as I have not downloaded any calendars. I did notice that I believe my view of the calendar is through my HTC and not a separate GOOGLE CALENDAR... I'm under the impression that they are the same, just with different views...?? Please help
I truly appreciate the time spent. Until now, I have had no problems with this phone....
4. Oh wait, I did buy 1 game that I'd like to keep... Dragons Lair!!

In answer to:
1. You can backup mms and text with this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.riteshsahu.SMSBackupRestore&feature=search_result

2. If, like you said, your contacts are in gmail, they will sync when you sign back in.

3. Your calendar should then be your google calendar. To double check, just log in to gmail from your computer and go to google calendar.

4. The game you bought will be synced on your google account if bought from the play store....but, you may lose data associated with that game. But you purchase will stay that way... i.e. you will not have to buy it again.

Hello, and thanks for the info... I'm in the process right now...
1. I downloaded the SMS backup and it saved my messages apparently to my SD Card.
2. I downloaded Outlook on my laptop and am waiting for the HTC sync site to finish downloading.. I was told by customer serivice if I do that, I can export my calendar before I do the complete reset....
3. Do you know if the picture thumbnails from my contacts will also be saved on my contacts from Google???
I'm currently starting all this. Any help would be appreciated. THanks!

Not 100% sure on the thumbnail pic save. However, I will let you know that the contact pics on my phone are also on my gmail acct.:)
