first do not use rom manager it is very buggy and creates issues like these. my suggestion would be to switch recoveries to amon ra 2.3 and then do everything manually.

so lets get you booted up first. go into recovery and wipe dalvik cache, cache, and data, do it three times (just to make it really clean) then reflash your rom.

once that is done please read the http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all-things-root/395962-guide-rooting-gingerbread-revolutionary.html. there is a section on how to switch recoveries and how to flash a rom as well.

rom manager SUCKS!!! LoL i cant tell you hom many threads ive seen in this forum with something like "im trying to (insert xyz process here) via rom manager and its not working" with a post my ocn, or akaza or evom or myself telling the person how to do it manually and 15 min later, the op comes back with "omg, you guys rock... etc etc etc" is there seriously a way that we can have the dev for that apk remove its compatibility with the evo? does this apk suck for all devices?

anyways, the proper way to flash a new rom is exactly as ocn states, put the zip file somewhere you can find it easily on your sd card, go into the recovery, wipe the crap outta your phone, install the zip file, reboot and customize to your liking... sometimes the factory reset is needed when switching from certain roms to anything else, as certain roms have some proclivities to being a bugger by installing crap in subfolders that cause issues with other rom installs. But, that being said, i have yet to see someone who cant flash x rom when y rom is already on it oce rooted. Perhaps a little inundation here, and for that i apologize :)

Rom manager worked fine on my old Hero, mind you I didn't know any better back then. Plus It's a much simpler phone as well.
