So how does everyone like it? I used to play Warcraft III - thinking about getting SC2 as it seems like Warcraft RTS isn't going to be updated anytime soon.
I loved WC3 but this.. this.. this is just amazing

I picked this up after work for my son yesterday. I'm positive he's been playing it for 24 hours straight. I know he was still playing it at 1 am and when I got up at 5:30am this morning he was still playing it and when I got home from work today he's still playing it. I'm guessing it must be a hit with him.

QUESTION: Will I be ok with the following setup:
-Core 2 Duo 2.2GHz processor
-3GB or DDR2 ram
-nVidia GeForce 8600M GS 256MB (This is the kicker)
I know the minimum requirements say I will be alright, but I would like some 3rd party opinions.

You should be able to manage on low or medium settings. The game will auto set your gfx properties once you launch it up.

The single player has RPG and RTS aspects to it. The graphics are vivid and amazing. Story line is impeccable as well. It's a great playthrough even though I'm only on the 4th mission lol.

Yeah, been a long time since I have played a RTS like this, last RTS was back with C&C generals. The story is just perfect, the parodies of their own games and other pop culture is still there. Very enganging gameplay, the only thing I dislike Starcraft 2 for is that the activision is doing what they do best, milk our money with releasing the other two stories in two other expansions.
Other then this, I'm quite sure the misses is bit annoyed with my gaming habit after this game, but hey.. she is bad with AF, so I'm bad with SC 2!
I must say, I'm surprised with the game - you always see something new when playing. I feel also for each game you play there, you become better and better at multitasking. So by all means this game lives up to the expectations and bit more in my opinion!

I semi-agree with you that they are milking us of our money but then again I don't blame them. Blizzard does it because they know it's gonna sell. I'm definitely going to buy it and anyone who's played SC2 will as well. If it were me, I'd have done the same exact thing.

Nope but they plan to release two expansions (Legacy of the Void and Heart of the Swarm) for the other two races (Protoss and Zerg).

I like Protoss over Zerg but I like Terran over Zerg as well. Protoss > Terran > Zerg imo. My only usage of the Zerg race would be if I wanted to dominate my opponent quickly during a 1v1 ranked match.

So my brother picks up a copy and I'm playing and after a lot of missions I ask, "wow this is long when do you get to the Zerg or Protoss campaigns?" and he says, "what? there are no Zerg and Protoss campaigns"
What the hell Blizzard? 10 years to develop a game and you can't even fricken include the rest of it? Screw your story telling "concerns" the first game told an amazing story and still managed to let me play the other g*d damn races!
I hate the Terran's. To this day on every fricken re-play of the the original Starcarft I skip it immediately. I'm rushing through this damn campaign trying to get to a race I enjoy playing and it turns out I will never get that, O' unless I wait another f*cking year and spend MORE money on an "expansion" pack that should have been included.
SCREW YOU BLIZZARD for making a game I love, around the continuation of a story I don't give a damn about, with people i hate, and a race that I find boring. Really, so fricken money hungry. DAMN IT WARCRAFT 3 MANAGED TO HAVE 3 RACES!!!!!

Whoa.. rage alert. I was pretty upset about this too, to be honest, but it's not that big of a deal. Once you're done with the campaign most people just end up playing the regular game or multiplayer for 99% of their game time, so I think we can look the other way. The game itself is spectacular. I can't stop playing it.

You are right about the multi player tho. It is true 90% of people who play Starcraft are playing the multiplayer. Hell I used to play it a lot, but I just don't have time to get into the MP anymore, so I was looking forward to at least getting to see everything via the campaign.

I picked it up on release day as well. Played it every chance for three days, was forcing myself to NOT play it today. I had forgotten what the sun felt like. :lol:

I picked it up yesterday and I am loving it so far. I am with everyone else who is pissed about only Terran campaign but I knew about that going in. I will mostly be playing multiplayer anyway. I like that they made it playable on older computers even though the graphics suck. My 4 year old laptop runs it fine although it looks much much better on my newer desktop.

Just beat the single player campaign yesterday. All I can say is.. HOLY POO! It was amazing. Don't wanna spoil it for anyone so I'll just encourage you all to play it fully through.

Lucky you, well - been asswhiped at multiplayer! xD So trying to learn multitasking, by the great team of sc players that made a good mapmode for that.
Stuck at one of the main missions, will not say too much about other then saying. It's rather hard destroying those buildings with a lady trying to absorb those buildings as well. Not to mention, all the anti air they have around there. Will give it a try tomorrow.
