Help Straight Talk with Nexus 4

I can't go through T-Mobile because I only get 2G service around here. I decided to go through Straight Talk, because I can choose T-Mobile or AT&T. AT&T has a strong signal around where I live and I'd like to use it after I purchase the N4. How would I go about through Straight Talk using AT&T and not T-Mobile. This has me confused. :hmmmm2:

Straight talk stopped selling at&t sim cards back in February or March. However if you manage to get a hold of one, they will still honor it. You can pick them up on amazon or ebay, but people are charging quite a pretty penny for them since their hard to come by. The other option is to give net10 a try. They're another tracfone subsidiary and still offer at&t sims as an option. They're 50 dollars a month instead of 45, but if you sign up for automatic credit card refills they knock 5 dollars off the price.

Aio isn't available everywhere yet, but it is a decent option. There's also their gophone prepaid as well.

This. Their GoPhone option has the $60 plan that includes 2GB of data and unlimited everything else. You can pick one up at your local Walgreens if you don't want to wait for it online.

I want to switch straight to att's prepaid, but I don't want all that data, the next tier down is without data... Wtf??

Do you have any plans for trying the new gophone? I specifically ask because you have N4 LTE enabled and would like to know how that works on this plan (does it work? what are the true speeds?).

Anyone else with N4 LTE that is using the new gophone (or even the aiowireless) who can share info? I have another month before my ST is "spent."

I was going to but I didn't realize that the n4 can only get the aws signal from att and not their normal lte signal.

You can still get on the go phone service but you'll only get hspa. Which in that case t mobile is the much better option.

Remember you asking about att lte in AWS, I just thought of a way you can tell, or anyone, if it is in your area.

On the nexus 4 do the lte enable hack, .33 modem etc. put the phone into lte only and open the mobile network search providers, if att shows up on the list they have lte on AWS.

Good info, thanks. I sometimes get focused on what bands T-Mobile offers (although not really practical for where I live) and forget about bands on ATT.

Anyone know how to determine where AT&T band 4 markets are located? I've tried some searches but not finding that.

I've wondered this myself, but there doesn't seem to be a list of active markets, just one of where they own it :(

The ATT actually shows up even when Im using my Straight Talk T mobile sim card. Is that normal?

Can I get a correct link to where I can buy the AT&T Micro SIM Card for the Nexus 4.
And, will I have to go through the Straight Talk Website to activate it?

If you want a straight talk att sim check ebay but be prepared to pay big for it, like over $50 straight talk stopped officially offering it.

Net10 if you want att network same or similar price as straight talk, about $50 per month.

Here is one on Amazon going for $65:

Amazon.com: Straight Talk AT&T Compatible Micro SIM Card: Cell Phones & Accessories

You can shop around on ebay, but you'll be hard pressed to find one under $50. As new optimus said they no longer make them. If you get the micro sim card though you can still activate it under Straight Talk for the $45 a month unlimited plan. I was lucky enough to get one before they stopped selling them and i'm still using it.

I have two AT&T straighttalk sims and I'm willing to part with at least one. Traelyn, you get first dibs so send me a PM if you would like it. This is assuming that it is possible for you to activate a SIM even though it was already activated once.

Nope. You can only activate them once. Learned that the hard way.

Well doesn't that stink. I guess I'll be throwing both of them in the trash.
What about this.

Can you take the sim that you have and reactivate it, I am assuming he let his account drop.

So can he call them up or go online put money back into his account and go on like that? If so couldnt he just sell that account to someone and they can change phone number and personal info and password?

If the number on the sim was taken off then the sim is no good. Now if the sim was used and then not renewed then I don't know if it's still good or not.

But I know for fact that if you take the phone number off the sim then it's no longer good. Straight talk actually sent me a free one because I assumed I could keep using the sim but they said negative.

interesting.

Ok I guess depending on the situation maybe he could try it. If he wanted to that is.

Yeah if the account just didn't get renewed then it might can still be used but it would be with the number associated with it. Worth trying though. They might send out another sim like they did me.
