Root su binary outdated - is this legit ?

I had NEVER seen this before I added a new app.

Within a few minutes of adding this new app, I get this message about the su binary being outdated and needing me to tap to update.

Is this ok or is this bogus?

It could be. Kind of like following a URL in a suspiscious email. I'd go to your SU app and try updating from there.

I've actually gotten a system toast from su when the binary was out dated. It only happens on a new flash or when su is initially installed. It gives a toast if the binary is outdated (not the app itself) the first time su access is requested.

I don't know what a system "Toast" is but no, I haven't done ANYTHING other than download and install a very popular app from the Andoid Market.

My phone is not rooted.

But I had installed the app "SuperUser" from the Market.

I just UN-Installed it.

Hope that works.

Dude, SuperUser is su. That was completely legit, but is only for root access. If your phone isn't rooted, you don't need it anyway. If you're trying to root your phone, then it will be listed as a step in one of the guides.

Just came from the last pre-op appointment, and the doctor (who?) :) moved the time up. So, it's looking like the surgery begins at 1:30 pm, est.

The last time I updated SU binary it broke my phone. It also broke my brothers and a few other people on this forum. I tend to not update anything anymore that's working perfectly.

I've never had a problem with updates, but then again I'm a little OCD about somethings and always have a good backup image.

Downloaded Root Check Pro after running Root Check Basic and it telling me I am not rooted. Well Pro said my SU Binary was out of date. So used SU Updater Fix and it can't get Root access to fix it. Says I need to download update.zip. Anybody know what its talking about? Droid X

manfromnc, even though you are using a different phone, ive ran into that problem as well one time.. what i did to fix it was restore my phone to another backup, or just reflash the rom.
