Woop, woop! Got it all done without too much trouble.

Thank you to all of you here for the wonderful information that you have shared and special thanks to Isaacj87 for all the work on the Icarus mod.

Honestly though, thanks so much. I was really hating my phone. Now I don't dislike the silly thing and I'm excited to play with it again. I never would have attempted this if it hadn't been for all those brave souls who went before me and shared their knowledge.

Now I really need to get out to the garden for a while. :)
 
WOOP WOOP! Since it is based from 2.1,maybe we should re-name this phone ICARUS!
 
That was the thing that drove me crazy about my Ascend...it dominated so much of my free time.
 
Somebody stop me before I stay awake for three days and nights going from one rom to another faster than I can brew coffee and chug red bull.

I already have Home Switcher and ADW Launcher and LauncherPro.

Android is more fun and addicting than any other technology I've ever used. And if I don't go to bed now I'm going to end up with CM6 or 7 on my phone by daylight.

Looks like we're gonna have to stage an 'INTERDICTION'........AND,hide the RED BULL! ;)

I'll save you some time. Here is the scoop (and I like both).
CM7 It's Gingerbread. Some more features but also more bugs which are stated on his wiki. Some say it's visually more pleasing but that depends on your launcher and what themes you have and like. I do like the Huawei start-up logo better.

CM6 It's FROzen YOgurt. Not as "cool", because it's not the Newest. But it's FULLY FUNCTIONAL. And more in line with our phones. Hell my friend's Droid X is running Froyo (I just checked a little over an hour ago). And I just downloaded the Honeycomb theme (it's cool, but I'm thinking about switching back to Golauncher for the Blux theme ).

Bottom line is this: If you are the latest and greatest type go with CM7. But if you want fully functional then go with CM6.
Both are only going to get better and you can backup and restore to switch between them if you want.
Next payday I'm sending both Isaac and Pip contributions!

Ok, I am going to force myself to go to bed and close my eyes and not be the least bit curious about what's so great about CM6 or 7 or how to Theme notification bars and other freakin' cool sounding stuff like that. No way am I going to give any of that even a 2nd or 3rd or 4th or 5th thought.
 
Only thing I've seen not working right in CM7 now is the video camera :) This is based on how 'I' use my phone tho. CM6 is a great rom too, its just, well now 2.3.3 lol

We guess what category I'm in???? :)

Nice summary, thank you. I will probably end up with either Icarus or CM6 for the stability. But right now I feel like a spoiled child in a candy store. I want to take a bite of everything.
