Help Summary of problems for Triumph

Well, crap. Returned my first Triumph after three weeks when the autofocus stopped working. Second Triumph was pretty much perfect except for some tiny pinhole light leakage at the bottom, but a few days ago the screen flickering when waking to the lock screen started to happen. I tested to see if an app was causing it by restoring to factory setup, but that didn't seem to help and it was doing even weirder things like the screen not waking up at all a few times and once when I was demonstrating it to the girl at BBM, the screen turned milky white. Gah. Third Triumph is so far working well, except for somewhat slower GPS lock speed from initial testing. Good thing I have the two year protection plan!

I have had my triumph for about a month now. I have had no issues with screen flicker, light leakage, gps issues or any of the other issues people have been reporting on here. So far the battery lasts about a day and a half but that's not surprising with how many apps run on a consistent basis. I'm rooted, I'm running clockworkmod among many other root apps. I have it overclocked to 1.6 gig. I'm running the lcd density program and everything seems to run smooth i am so far very happy with this phone. It is a bit spendy but for a no contract phone i cant complain. Just waiting for the devs to perfect Cyanogen 7 for it and i'll be a happy camper...

I think unfortunatly what it comes down to is luck on whether you get one of the lemons... sad as it may be...

anyone encounter this problem, when calling the voicemail the screen goes black 'sleep mode' for like 3-4 secs and then comes back on and this repeats, i also noticed some screen flickering when calling voicemail but didnt see it when i just called

Yes, mine does exactly that while I'm trying to enter my passcode, it goes off and I must tap again to wake it up:confused:, may do it several times. Is there no screen timeout adjustment to control this? My Display Timeout under Prefs is already set at 2 mins, so this is messed up. Motorola, are you listening?!:mad:

Try turning off the autobrightness and see if that makes a difference. I noticed on my phone that the screen was dimming and then brightening as it sat on my desk and the sunlight was getting brighter and darker when clouds went by.

When in a call, or listening to voicemail, try just pressing the screen, or shaking the device to get the screen to come out of black.

My MT was just over a month old. It had worked fine about 4PM and was in my pocket until about 6PM, then three lines appeared on the upper left corner looking like a crack with a black oval in the middle. This MT has been babied and never was dropped. Oh well, Virgin Mobile is sending me a replacement.

Tonight I returned my original triumph (purchased 7-15) because it was failing to charge properly. I bought 5 different chargers...it would get to like 60%, say it was at 100% and stop charging. The connection was also a little loose. I had to set it just the right way to get it to charge.

This new one has the software 39 instead of 38 like my other one did. Screen looks great, but there is CRAZY HUGE light leaks jetting up from the bottom right and left corners of the screen. You can only notice it when the screen is showing something dark, but they seriously jet up about an inch on each side. My other one didn't have this problem at all. I changed my background to something light, and I don't watch movies or videos much on here so I'm going to keep it for a while and see if it annoys me.

Oh geez. I can't get any GPS signal at all. I tried the GPS fix app...I ran it for 15 minutes twice and it didn't do anything so I'm assuming it doesn't work?? Is there a GPS for non rooted phones? If not I'm going to try another one tomorrow.

I have had issues with my phone only wanting to charge when it is powered off, this doesn't happen all the time however when it does it's annoying.

I also have a new problem sort of related to the above complaint which is that tonight when I plugged it into my phone it would not connect to my pc. I ran a windows program called fix it and it appeared to solve it by installing the usb drivers however usb mass storage would only work for a couple minutes then my phone would prompt me again to put in usb mode once again, and now my computer doesn't recognize my phone, wont even charge what to speak of allowing me to transfer files.

In case anyone is wondering I am rooted with stock firmware, all crapware is deleted and I deleted the launcher and using go launcher instead. I am looking to make go back to unrooted stock however... I can't mount the usb storage not even in cwm

also should add that today I did try and flash ticker preview of cm7, it didn't flash correctly and I went back to my previous nandroid recovery. I basically downloaded the file from my phone and used a file manager to move it to the sd zip and it just didnt' flash, I have no idea if this could have damaged the drivers in anyway but I didn't have the problem with the usb driver up until today

I had owned my Triumph for two weeks and had not once been able to establish a GPS connection. I had made like 20 attempts at the two week point letting the phone sit for hour intervals and still not one made connection. Anyhow I had already boxed the thing up and was waiting for my better half when I read a recommendation for an app called A GPS Injector on another thread. Figured $1 was worth the possibility of not needing to deal with Best Buy. In getting to my point not only was I able to make a connection for the first time after the app was installed but every use after have connected practically instantaneous. Anyone have an idea on how this app is able to achieve what it does?

I had a problem with my phone rebooting like 3 or 4 times a day the first week I owned the phone but then it suddenly stopped and has not rebooted in about a month. I don

At first I had nothing but problems with my Triumph

I feel like an idiot. As I said previously I got a new triumph this weekend and I didn't think the gps was working. After reading horror stories I assumed I just got a Crappy one. Ran gps fix app... Didn't do anything.
I kept doing different things trying to get it to see where I was. Finally I typed "taco bell " into google search. Then I hit places. A thing popped up saying do you want google to access your location. I clicked yes. It showed me taco bells near me. Then I went to maps and hit my location and it was correct down to the address.

Not totally sure, but this might be of help to you.

Well, my 2nd Triumph died on me. I was simply trying to reset it, and it wouldn't turn back on. Virgin Mobile is sending me a replacement this week.

I exchanged my 1st Triumph at Best Buy after several reboots while using Google Nav. The 2nd Triumph still had the same rebooting problem, and also kept disconnecting from a hidden WPA2 wifi network (the 1st Triumph had no problems with the same network).

Hopefully, 3rd time's a charm.

any solves to the headphone sound reducing when notifications come in?
I noticed that too recently at the gym! I didn't have my mp3 player handy, so I was using my phone to do my cardio with & listen to music, I got a new e-mail notification and the sound just dropped off to a fraction of what it was. Never had that issue on my Nexus One. Hoping there's an update/fix for it...

The other thing I noticed last night as someone called me (which I never had occur before) was the speakerphone volume just kept dropping off and sounding worse and worse. I always talked to this same person on my Nexus One with speakerphone (on the way to FedEx for work) and never had an issue once, but this sounded so bad I got fed up and told him I'd call him back after I was at FedEx and stopped. Made me want to give up on using speakerphone and go back to the bluetooth headset in the ear (as uncomfortable as that is).

Regarding battery life.
I am using Ticker's CM7 9/12 afternoon build. I was running Juice Defender as well as Advanced Task Killer. Last night I shut down ATK and let the phone charge over night. I pulled it off the charger at 7:30am today (it's 2:40pm right now) and I still have 85% charge. This was while doing the same amount of stuff as I had been doing previously when ATK was running... couple games, interwebs, sms and mms. When I had ATK running I would only have around 50% battery life remaining. I still have plenty of free RAM as well.
Oh, and Juice Defender is still running.

Just my experience.

After 3 days with my 3rd Triumph, and it seems to be a charm.

No wifi issues, gps locks without needing GPS Fix, and no random reboots yet. Fingers crossed that it stays this way.

I had the Triumph for a week; no GPS and unreliable home and back buttons were enough for me to return the phone to Target. I loved the phone, but the phone is just too expensive to put up with crap like that. If at some point VM decides to do a software update/upgrade that fixes the problems, I'll buy the phone again in an instant.

It's back to my Optimus V for me. I'll keep my eyes on the forums to see if and when posts consistently come through stating that all of the problems with the Triumph have been corrected. Though, by the time that happens, I'm sure there will be phones available from VM that blow the Triumph out of the water.

I don;t know if it's just a coincidence, but all the phones with problems like a bad screen and the like seem to have been purchased at Best Buy, while phones purchased at Radio Shack have been problem free.

I didn't buy my phone at either place and I have tones of problems. It is just poor QC and planning on Motorola and Virgin Mobiles part.
They should offer an exchange for the Marquee to those who are unhappy with the phone.
300.00 for a pretty brick is way to much.

I read all the warnings and got one anyway. Got my RMA and now returning for a refund.

Wish it didn't have GPS/Signal issues... Too critical to ignore.

My wife's Optimus V gets great signals side by side. (half the cost)

Stay away
