Root Super Mario Bros Theme

Yes, Launcher Pro. Get your icons and put em in any folder on your SD card, I use a folder named ICONZ. Once you open LP just long press on one of the dock icons and change icon, press the folder where you have your icons and pick the one you want. LP icons are the easy ones, folder organizer takes a little bit longer. You gotta down load folder organizer from the market, this will enable you to create a shortcut to an app with a custom icon.
Sort of a back door to change icons without having to mess with framework files, which I don't know how to do...YET. :D

guess I need to make a trip to the market and pick up launcher pro.. I never upgraded to the donate version.... thatks for the info bro

No problem! :) I use the free version, no need for LP + unless you use alot of sense widgets. Sense widgets won't be available in LP. The + version has widgets that are pretty much the same as sense, so if you need these buy it. If you have any problems let me know. :)

Found a sweet widget today on the market. Its a mario block widget, it doesn't do anything but it does sit on your screen looking just like a mario block and spits out flowers and coins and one ups, playing the authentic sound all the while every time you touch it. I LOVE it, must have. Also you ought to grab the mario sound boards from the market...

Sweet, I'll look into those! I downloaded all the sounds I have now from zedge. I need a little better sound base. :p I'll post a screenie of my Handcent theme too. Thanks homie!

yeah i think im going to lay into a mario theme serious stlye and mod everything. I grabbed a metric ton of icons yesterday and images and a mario font. Im going to make my own battery icons though..im forseeing the mario lives where it shows mario then x then his lives like "mario pic" x 97, etc for each battery level...or maybe a rotary of the flower power modded with the outer petal area being the battery level...i have too many ideas here lol.

Dood, if you come up with a battery icon mod, I must have!! Or at least teach me how to do it myself, I'd 'splode! :eek:

I'll get the Johnathon sound board tonight. :D

Battery icon is simple it's just progressive pngs. The pain it's that there is 103 of them lol

I'll be doing a full theme I think menus, notification bar, icons, wallpaper, live wallpaper, etc. it'll take time with work and beach weather but I'll be sure to do the battery icon first

Edit: I'll be doing cm7 cuz it's what I'm running. I can still give you the pngs if you aren't running cm7 tho

I'd need the pngs, cuz i'm still runnin Kings R2 as my daily. Thinkin of going to R4, or Kings GB neon.
If you could point me to a good thread on changing framework files to theme, I'd try it myself. Or you could give me a lesson. :D

I have never found a thread on this. I am just a tinkerer. I did find a pdf once with the basics...I'll link it later or you might be able to google ultimate themeing guide

As far as looking for icons don't limit yourself to evo. I grabbed mario from all over. Grabbed some manilla files, I don't even know what uses those but they converted easily to pngs.

Dood, could you load all your icons in a drop box or something?
Maybe I'm using the wrong keywords or I'm just cro-magnon. I've only foung like 3-4 icon sets, and they're pretty much the same.
I'd love to find images of all the power up tiles, or images of Mario with the power ups from SMB3.
Still, I really haven't found any HD icons yet. Maybe I should pull out the old 3D drafting programs and make me sum....If I can. :D
 
yeah prolly, itll be later tonight though. I have a dropbox, guess i can pm ya a link, so far just has some boot animations my friend and i made from scratch that wont make sense to anyone else lol, i'll add the pngs and send ya a pm when i get them up

Actually it might be tomorrow i still have a few mario apks i am pulling pngs from, i'll likely have more pngs than i need to make a full theme but its nice to have options

Mario just seemed fun your idea got me going lol, ive themed my phone before but never fully, my ringer is the mario theme already :).

If i were going to theme a phone and not have it be fun it would look like first blood in my sig, i wanted to do something fun, luckily i found first blood and it freed up my time to do a fun theme.
 
Ok I posted this here from another thread because I was asked a few times how I did this, so this is how:

My actual theme is still under construction, I have 2 kids and a full time construction job, so my time is limited. I should be working on it right now! :D

What I did was google some mario icons and wallpapers. This is the longest step in my opinion. Save these to your SD card in a folder named iconz or something.

Next download Launcher Pro from the market. Set it as your default launcher. Just as a note, when you use LP you don't have access to the Sense widgets. You can buy the LP+ and it has Sense like widgets, or just search for comparable widgets from the market.

Once you have LP running how you like it, long press the phone icon. Choose change icon and choose custom icon, then choose gallery. The icons you put on your sd card should show up. Choose the one you want for your phone and wolla! :) the icon is changed. Do this for all the icons in the dock. You can also change the app in the dock using the same method.

Now to Change icons outside the LP dock you need to long press on your home screen, choose applications, click on the app you want. Once the pop up appears with the label box click on the app image, choose gallery and the icons should show up, click on the icon you want! This sets the icon image on your home screen only, it won't change the app icon in your app drawer unfortunately.:o
A huge thanks to An Urge To Dance for this pointer, I used to use another app to change the home screen icons, I didn't know LP could do this!

This is a little loophole to change icons for apps without getting into the framework files. That involves full blown themeing with different programs and actual code for colors and such. I'm not going to get into that here, cause I'm still figuring that out myself! :o

I'm going to copy this post over to the mario theme thread so others that go there can follow how I did this. :D
