Root Support Rooted T-Mobile SGH-T959V

Yeah you will lose your apps so download titanium backup or another app backup app and backup all your apps. Then after the flash you can then redowload the app you used to backup from the play store and then restore the others. Only restore user (downloaded) apps and not any system apps as they may interfere with the new ROM.

Ok..so,if Iwrite it down exactly...follow steps....then I should be able to flash this ROM? I just want someone to hold my hand as I walk into uncharted territory. You think my abilities, based on the preliminary rooting and cwm steps, make it likely that I will be successful?

Yeah just follow those instructions to the letter and you'll be good.

I have seen where some people include a gapps.zip file. Can I run that on any ROM, or just the ones that include the file? I use some of them

The gapps zip is for aosp ROM's such as cyanogenmod as Google don't like their apps to be included in the ROM so they have to be flashed separate. If the ROM you are flashing is stock Samsung based it'll have all the gapps included.

If you flash the rom and after you boot it the first time you realise you don't have any of the google apps (play, g+, gmail, etc) you can always reboot into recovery and flash gapps.

Nooooooo, I'm leaving for an extended trip through the Amazon rain forests so I'll be unreachable for 6 months!

Of course, whatever you need. :D

^^^^this guy^^^
And I'm just lurking here following along:)
You are getting some awesome help here snecker
Thanks to luna and shotgun:D

Yes I am... everyone has been very helpful and patient. Awesome site in general. I do have.trouble filtering searches here, but I will check it out after the big mod event!

I am going to flash Valhalla Final....unless you can think of a reason why I shouldn't, or if there is a better app that I am ready to flash....I see that CLEANROM is way above my pay grade!

I did the clockworkmod backup....copied the whole clockworkmod file to sd card, then backed up all my apps and system files with titanium backup (free). Sound good? Glad you are here BTW!

Yup, that's the ticket.

Now, put on your trench coat and get ready to flash!

Okay, you got me with this one. I was reading up on what Voodoo Lagfix actually does and I am not sure if the flash will work properly without it. The lagfix looks like it was built into a specific kernel/recovery and that's what they are assuming you are using.

You can proceed without it and see what happens (risky) or download the right recovery and try again. Unfortunately i can't seem to find it. I'll keep looking.

when it was booting, it said something about lagfix being installed, so a version must have come with the ROM. So far it looks functional...still poking around slowly. Looks pretty cool, I am not really sure what it all does yet.

Glad it's working for you. As you get accustomed to it you might find other roms more suited to your liking. Trying them out is as simple as making a backup, flashing the new rom and restoring the backup if you don't like it. Do that once or twice and you'll be hooked (propeller beanie optional).

When I reboot to recovery, it shows voodoo lagfix, and that it is enabled. All the basic functions seem like they are working. One of the locked screen options is TEAM KANGA. This function only does a weird quick reboot...more like a hiccup. the locked screen is awesome. The options available when you power off is awesome...I now have recovery, download, and other options...very handy. Do you think I should try yo flash it again, now that I have the voodo lagfix on the phone?

If it's working, it's working. No need to reflash it. I think the voodoo lagfix off was only for phones that had it enabled in the first place. :)

Thank you all for the support! I am naming all of my kids after you guys! I would have never done this, or even thought I could without you. This new ROM should keep me busy for at least a day or two. You all now have a reprieve from this needy noob...until next time...haha.

Thank you Lunatic59!!!!
Thank you Mikestony!!!
Thank you Shotgun84!!!

oh yeah, Thank you El Presidente for enlisting all this great help.
