Root swaping sd cards

I just got a quik question for you great people, ok I am running low on my 8gb actually less than a gig lol. My question is since all my root, rom, theme extras are on this SD card i was wondering what will happen to my root if i put in a larger 16gb SD card? Thanks.

Connect to the PC in disk drive and move the files to your desktop. Then when you put in the new card (may as well format to FAT32 since you're rooted. That can always come in handy later), then you can move the folders/files to your new card and no problem.

A note however...not sure what type of stuff you have on your 8G but if you store entire Roms/kernels/nandroid backups etc on there, you might consider moving those over to your PC for safe keeping and then deleting from the card. I just cleaned mine up (also 8G) a few minutes ago and went from 28% available space to 76% just by moving 5 nand backups off the card. They take up a huge amount of space. Just a thought.

You may also want to consider using something like Dropbox. http://db.tt/3bL5jqB You can move files to Dropbox and retrieve them anytime you want via the Dropbox Android app. Plus, the files are synced with your computers and backed up. Dropbox even keeps different versions of the same file backed up, which is really cool.

I move all my nandroid backups to Dropbox, which saves lots of space on the SD card.

I may try dropbox, seems easier than going back and forth from phone to computer

silly question time:

can you run a restore .zip from clockworkmod from dropbox, ir do you need to transfer it back to your sd card?

Wow, what a great idea! I never thought of this. I assume to put the nandroids back on your card for a restore you just place them back in the clockwork folder via disk drive mode?

BTW, just saw you're from Boston. I live in MA as well. Go Pats

You have to transfer the files back to the sd card before being able to use them.

Yes, you have to download the files first, then you can use astro to move them to the correct directory.
