SweeterHome2 Beta

@Mercutio - "Has anyone found a workaround to get beautiful widgets working?" The dev has fixed this issue and it is being tested in a private update before updating the public beta.

@DroidJnkie - "I had the same problem with gradually blurry icons, and I just restart the phone, but I too would like to know if there is a fix for it." This is an issue with the memory cache being used up while editing/creating themes. This has been a constant issue the dev has been trying to work around/address. For now, I suggest that one uses a Task manager to close SH and restart SH from time to time. This will clean out that cache and the icons will look normal. Not only the icons are effected by this. One may experience graphics that won't load on the scree while editing and some of the issues regarding the widgets are do to the same issue. The dev is working on this as well.

"Sometimes when I press on an icon to activate the dialer, handscent, music player, etc., it won't respond even though it's highlighted. Anyone else having this issue?" I haven't had that issue. I would suggest that right after you experience the issue run a logcat (you can install "aLogcat" program from the Market to do this) and email the dev:
bugs @ sweeterhome . com
with the logcat info and a description of what is occurring.

'I put the pure grid calendar on the left screen, but after a while I notice that it disappears. I have to enter into edit mode, where it magically appears, and then exit edit mode, and it's there, but it goes away again after only a short while." I think this will be fixed along with the Beautiful Home widget update issue on the next release. I haven't experienced this issue. However, I would be willing to bet that it is related to the BH updating issue.

There are some major problems with Android itself regarding the way it allows Home screen apps to "bind" widgets. The SH dev has been trying his best to create ways to work around these Android bugs. He, also, has notified Google about the bugs. Hopefully, in future Android updates they will be addressed... Although, that doesn't help us now. The dev is trying to get this to work despite the Android bugs. Please be patient.

I had the same problem with gradually blurry icons, and I just restart the phone, but I too would like to know if there is a fix for it.

This really confuses me, as I don't get this problem at all. Caching shouldn't be an issue here if your description is accurate that the icons go blurry "over time"?

The only reason I can see this actually happening is if you have multiple trays with icons set to different sizes within your theme. This could cause the caching issue Shaneaus described.

here's mine after 2-3 hours...

How did you make it curve in the bottom?

If you go into more and preferences you can make it show arrows if you want..

and you add more stuff on there

i just posted my simple theme to the interweb if anyone wants a little head start or help figurin out how this works...its theme1point1 and hopefully it works.

its just one screen with beautiful smaller home up top and a couple springboards above 5 bettercut shortcuts to phone/chompSMS/dolphin/gmail/market. you can change to handcent and stock browser or whatever you use if you want you'll just have to delete my shortcuts and add your own...

i dont think this one uploaded i think its one with a square springboard on each side of games and music, but heres what it is...just real simple and maybe good enough for someone who doesnt want too much goin on.

OK ... my update. Got 3 screens done (each row = 1 desktop), and I think I'm going to just live with this for a while until I can see what really needs changed. I do plan on creating one screen for landscape mode. I'll use that when the DROID is in the multimedia and car dock.

im using the google finance app and want two of their widgets, dow jones and nasdaq. i have two seperate widget trays (that pop up from the same springboard) and they are named differently. whenever i change one ticker, they both change. so i either have two djia's or two nsdaq's. any thoughts on why this is occuring?

great app, ill post my screens soon.

Make sure the trays have different names, otherwise they will always have the same content.

The latest version of my theme (v1.2) has a dock screen in landscape mode. I found a neat trick to disable swiping, so you cant move to landscape left/right/top/bottom:

Add an Action - Advanced block to the bottom layer of your screen, have it fill up the entire screen and make it completely transparent. Whenever you go to swipe on an empty area, you'll be touching this block and wont be able to swipe to a different screen.

Good for themes that only use the center screen.

Alright... made a slightly updated theme. This time it's a bit cleaner (inspired by MYandroidUSERNAME).

The reason I made a .gif with the battery widget flashing is because I made the widget hide-able via a springbox. I placed an invisible springbox on top of the battery widget so that when you tap the screen there, it will cause the widget to either show or hide. This allows for me to check the widget if I want to see a number quantifying my battery life, but also allows for it to hide for a cleaner look.

Also, because one springbox is deactivated by another, when I click on any of my other springboxes (for tools, social and media, or games), the widget hides which makes the icons easier to view.

The screen left of the main screen is my pure calendar widget, and the screen right of the main screen displays all apps.

Click for a larger view:

Is anybody using GDE, DxTop, PandaHome or anything else at this point? What a great distraction while waiting for 2.1 this has been.

Now I wonder if there will be any integration problems with 2.1!

OK, so you have two widget instances of the same widget app, right? And in one you have ticker a and in the other you want ticker b. But they're BOTH showing ticker a or b (when you change one, the other also changes)... Is that correct???

And to confirm, this doesn't happen on the stock Android home? Both widgets (even though they're the same app) show and hold different info depending on set up.

Is that all correct?

Q: How do I get screen captures of landscape themes? When I turn my phone into landscape mode and perform a screen capture, the images come out as portrait mode with only portion of my landscape screen showing... very odd.

Umm ... A) Whose waiting on 2.1? Not me. I've had it for weeks now. OK, maybe not the "official" release ... but still. While you're just playing with Sweeter Home, I am playing with Sweeter Home WHILE testing it within the different ROMs that are available. Having said that ... B) No problems with running Sweeter Home in 2.1. That's what I'm running right now. ;)

I tried v2 on my droid but seems very buggy. Getting allot of force Closes. Not to mention trying to resize those grids effectively drove me crazy.

I am not using Beautiful Widgets, I use Weather Widget Donate instead. I think I am having the same issue though with the Widget not updating properly.

I have unfortunately changed back to Home++ because I was spending so much time editing and getting FC on SH2. When it would FC, I would lose the edits that I made and have to start over.

Am I to understand that a Task Killer used on SH2 will fix this problem?
