SweeterHome2 Beta

I can see it's customizability......but the graphic presentation is really weak.

Seemed like a total mess to me.

As far as graphics, make it however you wish. If you want amazing graphics, put them in. The limit, for the most part, is your imagination.

The only limitation of Sweeter Home at this point is the user. If you prefer a Droid to an iPhone you should love Sweeter Home.

I dont' completely agree with this statement, I'm afraid.

The inability to add custom icons to the trays is a HUGE limitation, IMHO.

The stock android icons SUCK, and although sweeter Home pretties things up a bit, it can't get over this hurdle, apparently.

Here are my custom icons in Sweeter Home: An icon is nothing!

Has anyone overlaid a picture over an icon, does it work?

You make such a definitive statement for an individual who has had the program for a whole 6 hours or so.

I do not use bettercut, but it is my understanding that you need to create a custom tray then add a shortcut, and choose Bettercut. I believe that is how I remember it being stated.

This process is either in these forums or the SweeterHome forums. I will check and edit with a reference.

And of course there is someone stating in that post that they are having issues with the process. But is that doesn't work, do as rjoudrey has done.

Daily Update!

Screen1.pngScreen2.pngScreen3.pngScreen4.pngScreen5.pngScreen6.png

Added: Small green square is "Quick Dial", small red square is "Super Dial", names for each screen "All Applications", etc. Re-sized springboard icons. Changed wallpaper.

Finally decided to start messing around with SH2 last night. Here's my first (technically third but I gave up the first two times after like 5 minutes lol) run at making a theme. The calendar widget is on the screen left of the main screen, and all the rest are on the main screen. The SMS box is for recent SMS, but I have nothing in there at the moment.

Icons on the bottom are (from left to right): phone, favorites, browser, gmail, e-mail.

** MOD EDIT ** Please don't post images wider than the site. Either resize them before uploading or post a link

How did you get the custom Icons on the bar?

How did you get the custom Icons on the bar?

I made a custom tray and then exited edit mode, long pressed on the tray (which was set to receive shortcuts and not locked) then chose add shortcut, added bettercut, then it opened the bettercut menu to choose and activity and change the icon, etc.

Check this thread out for how to make beautiful home update normally:

http://androidforums.com/android-applications/36902-sweeter-home-2-beautiful-home-widget-fix.html

In short, the OP found that if you put the beautiful home widget on layer 10 with nothing else on layer 10 on that screen, it updates just fine. I tried it on mine and it seems to be working out great.

Now, does anybody else seem to be having any problems with their icons in their tagged trays becoming blurry over time? It's like the more I open/close them or if I go into edit mode and come back, the icons become blurry and in order for me to fix them, I have to force close SH2. Anyone know how to fix this?

I had the same problem with gradually blurry icons, and I just restart the phone, but I too would like to know if there is a fix for it.

ALSO

Sometimes when I press on an icon to activate the dialer, handscent, music player, etc., it won't respond even though it's highlighted. Anyone else having this issue?

ALSO

I put the pure grid calendar on the left screen, but after a while I notice that it disappears. I have to enter into edit mode, where it magically appears, and then exit edit mode, and it's there, but it goes away again after only a short while.

I should say that I'm running 2.1

Anyone have any of these problems??

DroidJnkie, are you having any other problems with 2.1 and SH2? Or just those?

No, that's it, except for that also when I select something, like the dialer, and make my phone call, and go back home, the springboard I activated is still up.

I'd love to have it be able to go to my regular SH2 home instead of having to manually close the springboard.

And is there anyway to have the springboard open the tray with some kind of animation, instead of having the apps sort of *blink* on? I'm not saying something elaborate, perhaps a fast fade-in or something?

At the moment you can only do this from a springboard in a custom tray - though I've logged a request to do this from a springboard block as well.

(Note I've only just started the docs, so they're a work in progress)...

Thank you, puny weakling!

Now, can someone help me with the other concerns on my above posts? I'm sure I'm not the only one going through these!
