SweeterHome2 Beta

I just installed the latest update, and it fcs on me all the time

I got that too right after I updated to the latest version. Then I remembered that I had added a direct dial shortcut (including the contact picture) to my custom tray an hour earlier. I removed the direct dial shortcut and SH2 has run great since.

I sent in the bug info, so hopefully that will help the dev to fix the problem.

Can somebody please tell me what I am doing wrong. I have read as many topics as I can find on SH2 but I am still having problem with something as simple as loading an image onto my theme.

I have the same problem, Huntsman. My theme disappears and all I have is a black background. It isn't exactly what I want, but the black does look kind of nice when my image isn't there. Sorry to hear the update doesn't fix this. I am about to install it, however, my phone is now completely black and I can't see anything. Having to turn the phone off and back on. Hopefully the fixes take care of this problem, too.

Just installed the new version. I went to a screen to edit and try to install my background. When I hit edit, I got a message: bitmap size exceeds VM budget. I get that one a lot.

I just uploaded this to the themes database now that the new beta is out and widgets update nicely

It's called OrganizedMess_v2. You can search for that, or you can search by author (sh0ebox).

The theme also includes landscape versions of all 3 screens. The landscape calendar can be a bit weird sometimes and might not format the calendar right - for now this can be fixed by going to "edit theme" on that screen and exiting out.

Also, as mentioned before, the battery widget is hide-able by tapping in its location. It is also automatically hidden when any of the other springboards are activated.

The icons along the bottom are also actually a "picture" with individual custom trays over each icon that contain their respective apps to launch them. The icon blend is set to be completely transparent so it appears as those icons function as buttons. This was done before the new beta was out to evade the blurry icon problem.

Hope you like it :)

I, too, am having trouble loading a new picture on my theme. Before the update, there was no problem. Now, however, I pick "internal device image" and load an icon/pic, and it will not load my picture.

What the fudge!!

Edit: to clarify, I'm not talking about wallpaper pictures. I'm talking about pics for my icons, like the post above.

Now that I try to edit my theme, I get FC a lot of times, and before I am done, it FC and it doesn't save what I've done

<sigh>

Hrm interesting. I thought I'd try to add my icons again to another screen just to see if I had any problems adding pictures, and it seems that I've got the same problem. While configuring the block I can see my images in the edit settings, but once I come out to view my screen (whether in edit mode or not) I only see my system wallpaper in that block, even though that's not what I tried to set my image as.

I dunno. My theme was acting kinda funky like that too (missing pics, disappearing widgets), for the first few minutes. And then, all of sudden, everything just kinda smoothed out and now it's acting like a completely new app. No FCs, all my scrolling windows are smooth as silk, and all of my widgets are updating. I don't know if it has to rebuild XML files, or recache pics, or what?

UPDATE: I figured out a solution to the not loading pictures properly, for those having troubles with it.

1. Make a new picture, choose the image you would like to use as normal and change all the settings to what you would like, ignoring the fact that it doesn't appear to have loaded your image correctly.

2. Go to manage applications and force close SH2

3. Press home and let SH2 reload

4. Behold your picture, as it should now be loaded properly :)

I know, we would like it to work immediately as that's how it should be, but for now it seems it should work. Hopefully they will get this fixed quickly and include it in the next patch/update.

This worked great! Thanks for the tip!

Yes, it's a bit of a hassle, but definitely something I can live with until the next version.

BTW, I'm having trouble installing the Pure Grid Calendar widget. When i select it, it gives me a "loading data" message on the screen and it never goes away unless I edit theme and then delete the widget altogether.

Anyone else having this issue??

Glad to hear it worked out for you too and wasn't just something that was working for me.

P.S. I just removed and re-uploaded my theme again, this time with a proper screenshot. I also added the two stock calendar widgets for more detail of upcoming events below the pure grid calendar. Still the same name (new images edited into the post above).

@DroidJnkie,

I sometimes have that pure grid calendar problem but I haven't noticed it since installing the updated SH2.

There is still one problem (which appears to be exclusive to me only, what the heck) that the new version of SH2 hasn't fixed for me, which is the ability to take screenshots in landscape mode. My landscape screenshots still come out as portrait mode and cutting off about 2/3 of the landscape screen and displaying it as just plain black :(

Does anyone have Home++ and SH2 both installed on their Droid? I do, and I'm wondering if this is what's causing the problem. If anyone does, could they try taking a landscape screenshot and checking to see if they get the same issue as me? I'm keeping Home++ for the time being until SH2 is out of beta, in case I all of a sudden run into some huge problem that forces me to revert to Home++.

I have both Home++ and SH2 installed, but have not launched Home++ for a week or so (SH2 is too good). No problems. I do keep my memory usage down with ATK.

@sh0ebox, thanks for the great theme to get me started. I've lost a lot of sleep playing with SH2.

Another thing I have done is, change the original pic's file name and replace the original pic with the "new" one.

I'm having the same exact issue. And no, I don't have Home++.

Mine has become more unstable than a teenager dumped on prom night

Going back to GDE until the next release.

Beautiful Widget: Updates infrequently but if I lock the screen and unlock it updates

Here is a kicker, installed a new theme last night and all my contacts got erased..

It appears Beautiful Widgets requires an action of some sort to update. Very sporadic and haven't figured it out yet.

Maybe the Puny One can help us here.

Here are pics of my theme. They are uploaded to the SH2 site under the title of Trusty_V1.

I am having a lot of problems with this app. I choose menu> edit theme > and routinely get this message:

Got exception: Canvas: trying to use recycled bitmap android.graphics.

When I try to save my theme, I get an "Error writing theme" message.

I eventually get a message that it has stopped unexpectedly and has to force close. Then my screen is black and I go back to Launcher+.

I just changed to the organized mess theme, thinking perhaps it was something to do with my theme, and I am having the same problems.

Is anyone else having these problems? It is making it impossible for me to use this, especially since these messages will come up when I simply try to make a phone call. I really want this to work.

What phone do you have? Rooted? ROM?

Anytime you get a message like that, please log a bug report...

I'm sure the dev is on to this one by now. But I'm trying to get hold of him. Looks like a caching issue.

BRAVO! SWEETER HOME ... BRAVO!!!

This release is AWSEOME!!! :)

During editing, I'm still experiencing some hiccups. But once I'm done editing, it is truly awesome! As this app develops, it is going to be the greatest app ever to touch an Android phone!

Oh ... forgot to mention that all of my widgets are working flawlessly. As are all my custom graphics.
