SweeterHome2 Beta

I was curious if anyone has gotten the Live Map block to work for them. I haven't figured out how to configure it and haven't found much info on it.

If anyone is having FC's with the new build.. save your theme on SD... uninstall it and re install it again.. I have not seen any FC's..

Only error message i see is Error inflating widget.. if anyone knows how to fix it..

I uninstalled and re-installed and still get FC every so often. I just got one today just from switching back and forth between screens.

My "home" key on my droid is basically useless. Whenever I'm in an app and I press it, my phone locks up for like 5 seconds at least and then either comes back to a home screen with errors on it force closes altogether. Anyone else having this problem?

I get the "error inflating widget" message sometimes too... don't know what causes it or how to fix it.

Definitely log this man. When you get the force close, afterwards, go into SD card/sweeterhome and look for the latest logdump.txt. Email that with a description to bugs@sweeterhome.com

I think I've logged it twice at least, but if it comes up again I will submit another log. I've been avoiding pressing the home key at all costs lately lol, but I will do it again just for the sake of submitting another log ;)

if anyone is still tryin to hide a widget...the best way is to create a springboard, or if you already have one you want the widget to go with just put the widget where you want it on the screen, rename the widget to something like the name of the springboard and a number...then edit the springboard and pick the name of the widget you want in controlled blocks. back out and you should be good.

OK, I have played with this a good part of the last few days. I can tell it has great features and I may be stupid .......
Now, I can't even enter the program. I get a screen with instructions telling me how to remove the default on the android home by going to "manage apps", choose home, choose SH. But the only apps in manage app are the downloaded ones, android home is nowhere to be found.
I've reinstalled, pulled the battery, etc.

So, on a droid, how can I remove the default choice from android home?

Download Home Switcher from the Market, easiest way to do it

Unfortunately as much as I really liked it, it was pretty sluggish on my Milestone and after uninstalling and reinstalling, and finding it still sluggish, even with a near empty theme, I've uninstalled it for now. :(

Hope to reinstall it in the future once it's faster..

Really? Of all the half-dozen or so home screen replacements I've used this is the only one without lag.

Is there any way to have a springboard object both display another object (such as the application list) AND hide a group of widgets at the same time?

Yes. Set the widgets on a springboard that is minimizable (make the springboard invisible if you don't want to have to see a springboard for it) and then set both that springboard that controls your widget and the springboard that brings up the apps tray to the same group.

FYI - using a private build at the moment. Dev is really trying to tune bitmap usage as the Android default garbage collection is shithouse. I haven't had a VM/bitmap error at all since using this build, neither a FC or wait message. Also resuming by coming out of an app is a lot faster (although on my Magic always run the risk of a browser or something stealing ALL the memory and killing SH)... Springboard hierarchy is in this build too (ie: closing the parent closes all children).

Well, I give up, loaded the USB drivers, try to capture the ^%$%$#%$# log file to capture the error with the red eye at startup, but I can't seem to capture the data.

Oh well, I am not touching Sweet Home until the issue has been resolved. Although the workaround of calling myself, declining the call, entering the lock pattern, then opening ATK, killing Sweeter Home is super easy to do  don't want to keep doing that every time I need to reboot

And too many FC to boot

OK ... I figured it was time to post an update. I added some colors and named my theme. I'm running this on Pete's 0.8.3 ROM over/clocked at 1 GHz. Fast! Smooth! Responsive! I really need to pay for this app. :)

I took the Simple theme and made it better (IMO) with a clean design, few widgets and a "dock" at the bottom like home++...

CleanlinessIsGodly

Left Screen/Main Screen/Right Screen (I don't use the top and bottom so I left them as is). I LOVE this layout:

Thanks, this works perfectly. I little kludgy to make it work, but gets the job done.

Ya, my Toggles Springboard and Calendar Springboard above both have widgets within them. Works like a charm and keeps the screen clean and clear.

@ scottslot,

Looks clean. How come you have your beautiful home widget partially obstructing your icons on the main screen though?

Also, your text is so translucent it's a bit hard to read. Why don't you (a) make it more opaque or (b) get rid of it altogether and just have icons only? If you leave it like that I assume you probably don't even need to look at it at all.

Just my $0.02 :)

Thanks for your $.02. Always welcome. I agree with your point on the font for the font on the bottom bar. Probably would be better served if it could be removed altogether. I'll take a look at removing it as the icons are pretty self-explanatory and I would assume anyone who uses this theme would know what the icons are that they put there.

As far as the BW on top of the icons, I kind of like it. It adds a level of depth to the screen while keeping the middle portion open for the background images and for me, I am changing my background so often because Backgrounds has such amazing images, I like to be able to see as juch of it as possible.

It's a simple fix for anyone who uses the theme though, just need to move the widget up slightly.

Thanks!

Cool... and btw you can indeed remove the text from the icons altogether:

Enter edit mode, then select the tray that contains those icons, go to "edit," click on "icon/label style" and then you can change "icon label/layout" to "icon graphic only" and that should do the trick.

SweeterHome just started freaking out on me today, widgets not updating, etc. Reloaded my theme and all the apps where missing. Still appears to be dragging. Every time I unlock SH2 has to reload itself. Really sucks.

Trying a battery pull.

Widgets not updating again.

Why is it every time I unlock I have to wait 20 seconds for SH2 to load?

Another strange thing is my memory is hovering around 95M.

Now every time I unlock it goes to native home screen when I press home it goes to SH2.

Hello,

First off let me say that I love SW2, no matter how gray my hair turns.

Can somebody point me to a tutorial for creating custom trays. I am trying to create a contacts button and for that matter many other buttons but i cannot get the text in the center of my newly created trays. I just want to figure out how to create text buttons like everyone has on there themes.

Thanks and yes i know i am an idiot.
