Swype avail for Eris

This is one of the most amazing input programs I've ever seen.

Great once you get used to it.

Will install later.

downloaded it today pretty cool I'm going to try it to see if I like or not thanks for the tip

Hmmm, am I missing a key that will drop the keyboard down like the default keyboard? Some websites that require a username and password will act like I hit "Login" if I use the return key after putting in my username without putting anything in for my password.

At the top of the Swype keyboard, to the right, you should see a button that says Next. Just hit that and it takes you to the next field.

alright alright i'll try it... quit pushing. :)

tho i do like better keyboard, but (i'll prolly get yelled at) you cant drive and txt with it easily

true. voice to text with handcent will probably keep me from uninstalling it. its a nice feature to have. but for now, swipe is my new fav.

Hi--Thanks for posting. I've downloaded, installed and gone through tutorials and even checked Swype in Locale and Text setting, but the Eris default keyboard keeps popping up automatically without asking for which input. Is there some other setting I'm missing?

7. Open any email/text client and hold down the text box and you will get a popup asking what you want for input. Select Swype. You only have to do this once and it will do it for all your programs.
8. Disable Audio Warnings as it seems to give errors as well located at Phone settings -> Locale & text -> Swype

i dont have one..

Then there isnt another field to go to and just hit enter. This works for me. Wish I knew how to take a screen shot to show you.

Got it. Thanks for the quick response. I saw the video posting back in Dec. of an Eris user trying it for the first time and I was wanting to try myself ever since--especially after reading up about Swype on their website. Looking forward to getting better with it....Thanks again!!!

Wow. This is amazing. So glad that you posted, and so glad that I downloaded.

Thanks - I am really blown away by this method of text input.

Lol, there is another field. Mind sharing a link where it works for sure?

Hmm. I have not had this issue. When I was going to FB and other sites and had to go to another field, I saw the button next and it dropped me to the next field. Im at work right now and have 0 reception, so I cant test it. Everything Ive been posting so far has been from memory. I will try to remember to give you a better detailed answer when I get home later tonight.

Which position are you holding the phone when you try this? Have you tried both ways?

And did you look through the tutorials? Maybe something is mentioned in there. I only read 1 link out of it so Im not help there.

vertical. End button on the bottom.

Ill take a look at tutorials

Learning Swype very quickly. Only thing I wish it had was a .com button for inputting web addresses, although .com is pretty easy to Swype but not as simple as a button. That's the only issue I've had so far. It is much faster--sort of like cursive vs. block letter writing.

I'd be interested in seeing how to lower the keyboard. I don't see a "next" button either.

Also, does anyone have any fancy trick for passwords to see what I've swiped-typed before its converted to asterisks?

if i use this 'Swype' would i be able to use it with handcent SMS? i would like to use the swpye keyboard with the handcent app.

"next" button for the tutorial? That's the arrow key. Password question is a good one. I think I would just be best to input by individually tapping rather than swyping just to be on the safe side.

Nice thing about Swype is you can always do the old school style of typing along with Swype. That is what I do for my pw fields.

I just tested on this forum logging in with Swype and I used the trackball to move to the next field. But this worked for me. Hope it works for you guys.

Arrow key. I knew it was something along the lines of "next" Thanks. Like I said, only used it for one day and can't really test it at work when at my office.
