Swype avail for Eris

I'm still really loving Swype. The only issue that's even slightly frustrating is that there's not always a consistent way to dismiss the keyboard when you're through with it. Depending on the app, sometimes there'll be a "go" key or similar that will do the job, sometimes hitting the menu button will work, sometimes the "back" button ... and sometimes I can't figure out what the hell to to. But it's still good.

+1...no rhyme or reason for it. "back" button works for me most often

It's not ... and the beta that's floating around is an unauthorized one, so if you want it you'll need to do some digging on your own.

I'm finding that this beta is unstable and force closes often. I've switched back to the shapewriter beta which is far more stable.

Did you follow all instructions I posted?

8. Disable Audio Warnings as it seems to give errors as well located at Phone settings -> Locale & text -> Swype
9.Reboot your phone. This seems to help in not having any FC's

I've used the Swype beta exclusively (and very heavily) ever since I got it, with absolutely zero problems. It's solid.

Same here not one single issue, BY FAR AND AWAY the coolest keyboard there is for a phone.

and I followed all instructions.
But when I try to use it, it tells me the screen sizes don't match?

What error are you getting? I sent you a PM with the link that was used before taken down as well.

You are forgetting one step.

6. After install go to Settings -> Locale & Text -> Check Swype
7. Open any email/text client and hold down the text box and you will get a popup asking what you want for input. Select Swype. You only have to do this once and it will do it for all your programs.

EDIT: right after I select swype for my input method, the touch keyboard disappears,
and when I touch the text box, nothing pops up.

And you opened up a text message or email and in the text field you held down your finger until it gave you a popup box? You're saying this isnt happening? Even without Swype installed, this would happen.

did you uninstall the bad version of swype before installing the new version? this is probably the issue...

then reinstall the good version,

yes, i tried to install the new version overtop the old one i had that didn't work. overwrite is not good enough...you have to uninstall old and install new.
