Swype for android leaked!

this app is probably the best app i have used/downloaded so far. not even a joke. so incredibly useful. i type so fast and accurately now with just one finger. in portrait mode no less. i might not even use the physical keyboard anymore.

I am having trouble saving words to the dictionary, I cant figue it out. can anyone tell me how to get back to the tutorial

thanks joe

Needs auto spacing and auto caps. :(

It does do auto-caps. Touch the letter you want capitalized then drag your finger off the keyboard and back on. Perhaps you should do the tutorial under the Swype settings.

I gotta agree with everyone else. This sent my typing speed via the OSK through the roof.

Quick, take it off your phones it is a pirated copy!

Customer Feedback & Ideas for Swype Inc

It is NOT LISENCED FOR THE DROID!

This, my friends, a mastermind marketing plan. Plausible Deni-ability at its finest. They state that their business model is for an OEM product. For those uninitiated, that means they want to sell it to Verizon as the stock input app, or at least an alternative to a std. keyboard.

I would guess they're marketing this to Verizon as we speak.

Tell your kids NOT to do something and what do they do the first chance they get, DO IT. They know darn well that we end users will go nuts over this. Either that or one of their programmers decided to risk his job leaking this thing.

How many Droids do you think will have this "limited" version of the software on their machines in the next week? Massive numbers. Adds pressure to Verizon to pony up.

If that doesn't happen, I'll bet they'll "change" their business model and collect in $$ from the already hooked Droiders.

Heck, who could live without it once they get a taste.

So get those illegal copies off your phones immediately

That's not really automatic. It should auto capitalize after a period like the stock keyboard.

capitalization isn't working for me. I swype above the keyboard as the tutorial shows but the word is not capitalized.

any suggestions?

also, there isn't any auto space after a period.if you tap period and then do the next word, the sentences run together, as above.

once they fix a few things this could be great. quickly revising my original opinion. :)

also, did you guys find the copy paste keyboard? very cool!

the autospace had to be turned on in settings for me, maybe that is the issue for you

Thing doesn't work after install, just beeps and flashes a blue border...

Does anyone using this have a screen protector on??

Regarding swype, or shapewriter, is there an option to restrict its use to portrait mode only? I like the idea, but I'm not sure how much I like it for landscape.

I was thinking the same thing, I like it in portrait mode but prefer the stock keyboard for landscape.

Thanks...yeah, Autospace is already on, and it works fine between words.

It does not work at the end of a sentence. Type a sentence and put a period at the end. Then start the first word of the next sentence...Swype will put the work right next to the period, so it looks like the example below, with no space between the period and the "G."

"I'm tired and am going to bed.Good night."

If anyone has a different result, let me know and maybe I'll try a reinstall. But for me, Swype does not put a space after a period automatically.

If you don't change from portrait to landscape too often, you could always leave both the default keyboard and Swype enabled, and switch between them by long-press in an input field - that will bring up a dialog with an "Input method" option listed along with cut/paste, etc.

Select Input Method and choose your Android keyboard when in landscape, Swype when in portrait. Requires a couple taps, but if you don't change too often, not a big deal...

It showed in the tutorial to swipe the period left to the space bar. That will give your space after the period.

Sweet dreams

LOL... :D

Yeah, I do need to go to bed...gotta get rid of this cold. Unfortunately I napped today because I wasn't feeling well and now am wide-freakin'-awake... :(

Thanks for the tip...I'll give that a try. But that's (picky-complaining-now) not an automatic space if I have to swipe the period and the space bar as well. ;)

this seems like a great thread to practice on too. but sometimes I have not that much to say. but when you're just practicing I guess it doesn't matter too much what you are saying.lol this really is fun though.it was hard to believe this app is as good as people say but it really is.
