Swype

I uninstalled, then installed it again. Trying to use it now . How do I do double letters?

You loop over a letter you want doubled. The tutorial is pretty good and explains a lot of the subtleties of using Swype. You can get to it by tapping the Swype button (lower leftmost button) on the Swype keyboard.

I've been swyping for a while now and my one complaint is that I cannot for the life of me figure out a way to drop the keyboard down. With the stock one it's just a button press and with shapewriter it was a press followed by a shape, but I have not figured out what it is for Swype. If anyone knows how to do this can you let me know? Thanks!

am I a moron? I signed up for Swype, received the email and went to the link that I was sent. The website my mobile phone went to states that my phone is not an Android handset.

CDMA Sprint Hero. Stupid browser! :(

Your browser has to be in "Mobile View" in order to work.

good point

I do have to say that I liked my older time-bombed version from XDA a little more than the official beta, the beta seems to lag a little and the line while swyping is really thin, I liked the thicker line a little more. Overall it is good to have Swype again, even voice to text didn't do it for me.

I tired it. It's going to take more time than I am willing to spend to get used to it. The standard type xda keyboard and voice to text work pretty darn good for me.

Has anyone noticed lag in other places (dialer, apps opening, WeatherBug Elite not updating) since installing Swype? I'm not convinced the problems are connected to Swype installation, but I wanted to check around.

I've got 2.1 plus the OTA update.

No, I have not. My phone still runs the same. However, swype is kind of laggy. Like I'll end up swyping a bunch of words and then I have to wait to for it to catch up to me. Still, it's not bad enough to make me quit using it. I LOVE swype so much more than the stock KB.

I love the whole swyping keyboard a lot better than sock however I love ShapeWriter a lot more than swype.

I messed around with it more last night and I think it was Memento that was causing the weirdness. I had installed it the same night as Swype.

I had Swype since they released the Beta testing a few months back. I used it for a while but decided to uninstall it bec by the time I chose what word I wanted I could have already typed it out w/ the regular keyboard.
I got an email about a month ago telling me there was an update available so I decided to give it another try & re-installed it. Same thing. I found it to be a little more accurate than the first time around but it still wasn't worth keeping. Uninstalled.

Same here, it was fun to try out but ultimately wasted more time than using a regular keyboard.

The slider option in Swype makes a huge difference. I set mine to the sloppy side cause I'm not precise in my swyping. If you are precise though, then set that bad boy to the precise side and have at it. :)
