Root System update

Ubuntu 10.04 is still my favorite release. That build just FLIES. Though I'm using Debian these days. So its not much different. I just like Debian for some reason :D

Also, I checked htcdev.com, and the released source code was from update 1.14. So that may be slightly older than the OTA I just posted. Because we are now at what...2.95 or something like that for firmware and whatnot?

Though in the firmware.zip it says version 1.14 still...so who knows

I have a question, The longer you guys dissect this update, Will we ultimately know exactly what it was after to change, and more specifically, is it smart for us to download?

I thank and commend you guys for your time and work you put into this.

Where are you seeing that?

This is what I have in the android-info.txt file of the firmware.zip from this OTA:

modelid: PG8610000
cidnum: SPCS_002
mainver: 2.95.652.5
btype:0
aareport:1
hbootpreupdate:12

That should make the mainver 2.95.652.5 after flashing the OTA.

Well, I've already pointed out that it's not wise for S-ON users who plan to do the wire trick to get S-OFF to install it yet until we know more about how it will affect that process.

It should be no problem for S-OFF users to flash the RUU and install both the OTA's like prinny did just to check it out since you can always revert back to original RUU+OTA configuration.

1.14.652.0 CL372137 release-keys is what I see, not in the firmware.zip, but rather the main folder. File called version.txt

Unless that's indicating previous version?

I could be mistaken.

I saw someone mentioned new radio and PRI.. Can someone make a zip of those 2 files please in a PG86IMG.zip file? I'm wondering if maybe I could get a signal in my house finally with those 2 updates. :D Also the firmware that was posted as a .zip is that just flash able from recovery or boot loader? I'm on Negalite Blurom. Which has a lot of r level updates, so I hope if I flash this firmware update that it won't all be borked if I flash a r level update for the ROM. xD

The firmware dl is that....a pg86....I flashed from bootloader and it changed my radio and PRI....That's all I see different

Edit: I don't notice any difference in signal

What's the new PRI version number if there's a new PRI?

I would be interested in updating the PRI and maybe the new radio if it's good, but that's it.

Pointless to update to 1.58 hboot. Stay with 1.50.5050 people :D

Would I have to reflash that firmware file tho every time I install a new ROM or update to a ROM? Blurom wipes the system with every update.

I see a hell of a lot more then just a radio and PRI in the firmware zip ramjet uploaded. What are all those files? O.o

The rest of the firmware associated with the OTA update. It's always a good idea to keep the firmware for a baseband level in sync, but you can always delete the other files from the zip before you flash it if you only want the radio and PRI. My recommendation would be to flash everything.

Went ahead with the Meld and definitely a decent amount of differences between the config HTC had just released.

About to do the same with some of the other files Prinny posted.
And weren't there already a lot of differences between the config files for the prior VM kernels and the source that HTC released? IIRC, nothing matched up with the source.

Chairshot: Like I told g60, I did a pull of /system, so if I missed anything with uploading, let me know. I'll get it to you guys ASAP.

Man, I picked an unfortunate day not to check in here!

Thank you for the update zip, ramjet73. Thank you for the dumps Prinny. You guys are great - flashed via fastboot about a minute after the download without a hiccup!

radio seems to work great, giving me a bit better service in my house. Unfortunately I just got a random reboot on my ROM, not sure if it's at all related to me applying the update, but those are (very) rare on my ROM.

The beauty of S-OFF is that if I don't like it, I'll revert back :)

Also, someone who has picked up the phone and done S-OFF from stock should be able to flash this without flashing the intermediate 1.09.0706 baseband, right? I don't know why it would be a prerequisite for the OTA method -- that seems odd to me.
