--manual check for update: your phone is up to date
--Wireless N Router: still working fine
--Widgets: all working except Engadget. Removed/Reloaded and working
--Android Wallpapers: gone (re-adding from this thread...thanks guys!)
--Default android launcher: gone
--Live Wallpaper (floating leaves) works much more smoothly
--all apps open faster
--Speed Test
(over home wifi): [before update 5740kbps down/562kbps up] [after update: 10262kbps down/559kbps up]
(over 3g): [before update 651kbps down/651kbps up] [after update: 370kbps down/124kbps up]
--edge touchscreen issue: now i can use it on the desk
--screen brightness: screen is now brighter than before, both set to "auto"...possibly a change in the sensitivity?
--Phone: not bricked

consider it a success.

Additionally, verified that unrEVOked no longer roots the phone. downloaded and installed unrevoked. Ran it, it said "done", but Wireless Tether says it does not have root and SetCPU just FCs. there is NOT a superuser app any longer

hi fellow charlotte dweller :D

I think someone should start a new thread stating that the new update is a whole new phone, and it is much better than the old update.

rofl i'm surprised it hasn't popped up just yet

my N router still doesnt connect with wi-fi. I've seen a few people with the same issue, do you know if there was a fix? My head is starting to hurt with all these bricks.

the hardware only supports 2.4ghz ... if your router is running on 5ghz it won't work... EVER.

to the guy who can't get his gchat to stop loading:

goto settings, applications, services and delete the gchat service. if it's not logging you in, it shouldn't be draining that much battery, but for your sanity, you can have it permanently removed that way.

I got a brand new smart phone
It does so many things
Every thing about it's cool,
even when it rings.

It has so many features,
most I do not know,
cause every time I'm using one,
the battery runs low.

So I am finally able to access the OTA update. It downloads and prompts for install - sits on the install screen for a moment and then comes up with a red question mark and reboots and nothing has changed in device software information. Any suggestions? I am fully rooted with part 1 and 2.

i suspect that being rooted is probably part of your problem? lol

just be thankful that it didnt BRICK your phone...unlike many others who were both rooted and not rooted yesterday

yes, radio shack is putting me on the wait list, they are putting me 1st on the list, damn this evo 4g shortage sucks, in the mean time i had my palm pre reactivated, no more ota update for me

whatever the update from yesterday did do it seemed to dramatically improve my battery life today

unplugged at 7:50AM, it is now 4:35PM and it is between 70 and 80% (just dropped from 8 bars) - normal day at work - some FB browsing, some internet browsing, read some tweets, and just had a 20 minute conversation

maybe I'm crazy but it seemed to help big time today

Your not kidding. I left my phone unplugged last night with wifi on and it was at about 80% this morning. I used it moderately all day without plugging it in. Whatever happened, I like it!

S. Carolina here, update installed successfully just now. It removed my Live Wallpaper, but went right back into settings and readded it just fine (it didn't "delete" them). I also don't have any problems with existing widgets, they all load just fine. I just got my EVO yday, so i don't have much data to compare before/after, just know that it's not bricked. Oh, and i had to manually check for the update via HTC Updates or whatever. Took about 10 min and it was done. No further updates pending, thank God :)

Well, update to the situation with the phone. Took it in to my local Sprint Corporate office for a repair and unfortunately they couldn't do anything and issued me a paper statement saying that the device will have to be replaced.

Best Buy is happy to exchange, but I'm calling around frantically to find one that has it in stock. So far, no Best Buys in my local area have them in stock, so I guess I'll have to wait to exchange it.

Okay, so I have another new update on my exchange status. ALL Best Buy's within 20 miles from me are completely sold out. The ONLY location that had some, were activating the phones as I was on the phone with them asking if they had any in stock to exchange.

SO, I went back to the original Best Buy I bought my phone from (and just had replaced last Thursday because my original EVO had problems with the touchscreen being completely unresponsive) and they told me that they only do the "loaner" program when someone has their service plan and they have to send a phone out for repair. They were going to give me a Moment temporarily, just until they had more EVO's in stock, but that would've required doing an exchange transaction and then they'd have to do another transaction when I exchanged for the EVO again later. I didn't want to do that, so that manager said to me..."Well, if you want to be 100% sure that you can get another EVO sooner than later, you can pre-order the white one."

I thought about it for a second and considering there was no timetable for when they'd have more black EVO's in stock, I just did that. What's even better is, they indicated that my transaction would be placed as a PRIORITY EXCHANGE. So, when I go in to get my white EVO next Wednesday, not only will be put at the top of the priority list, but I'll also have a white EVO and guaranteed to have a phone by next week. Only downside to all of this is that I won't have a phone for a week, which realistically was going to be the case anyway.

I don't mind that I had to put a $50 deposit (gift card) because that'll just get set to the side and used for the HDMI dock or car dock (whichever is out first)! Things happen for a reason, so it's kinda a blessing in disguise that all of this happened.

So what the hell is going on for me? I updated yesterday, and had the worst battery life I've ever had. Thought it might have to do with the time spend downloading the actual update.

Today I'm down to 20% in just 8 hours. I typically had been getting between 16-20 hours depending on my use.

32% of use in "Android System" with 10m 22s CPU Total
26% in "Cell Standby", time on 8h 10m 38s, 1% TWS
19% "Phone Idle", time on 6h 7m 43s
13% display time on 2h 3m 6s
6% "Voice Calls" time on 10m 3s
2% Internet CPU Total 16m 27s
2% "Dialer" CPU Total 45s

Running stock, GTalk off, only widget is the time/weather that came loaded when I got it. WiFi, Bluetooth, 4G, GPS all turned off. Mail pulls every hour during my peak hours.

What is sucking my battery away?

I haven't gotten any notification on my phone since they released it yesterday. Yesterday I experienced the Facebook for Sense contact battery drain issue and my battery died in about 8 hours with little use. Today after charging it up til about 10AM and fixing the contact battery drain issue, it's been about 9 hours and I'm at 65% with fairly moderate use. I'm not sure I want to risk ruining the success with this update! :)

Is anyone else getting the "new" update?? I recieved the message around 4pm but I am holding out for now

I just got it too.
I figured it had to have been fixed before sprint would put it out again, so I took the risk downloading it.
I just reset my EVO and installing it now.

So I had no problems upgrading to the new software version OTA using 3G, but I'm having a really hard time trying to disable Sense... anyone else having this issue?
