System Upgrade 1.47.651..1 (21.43 MB) Now Available

if i did the update yesterday and everything is working good, should i redo the new update today?
Thought yesterday update was the new update-(revise). The one that gave problems was from two days ago. Those where the ones that brick there phone.

Upgrade went alright for me except every single widget had to be replaced because it couldn't load them after the update. At least I remembered them. Let's hope it keeps up the success with my battery life that I had yesterday (35 hours and was still at 30% with moderate usage.)

Here are the Evo Stock 2.1 Launcher wallpapers that were removed with the update

Ok, i download this into the phone, and not sure where they went, not seeing the above photos. I check the HTC Wallpaper page nothing there. Also checking the my Manage application page, wonder what this would be titled?

My phone did the update this am and it said it was installed. But then I got another notice to update. I did not do it at that time for fear of bricking. I check my software and it's the old 1.3 version. Should I go in and try running again?

Ran my update last night and haven't had any problems. The phone seems to be faster and smoother. Lost the wallpapers and had to re-add some widgets on the home screens, but no big deal.

Software version: 1.47.651.1
Not rooted

look in your Gallery at the Wallpaper chooser

Yea that's what i meant. Did the first one two days ago
Mine was updates to days ago too, I went to manual update and stated that my phone was already updated.

I also just sent and email note to HTC about the missing wallpapers.

I did see a improvement in battery life as well.

If yu are still showing the old version - then worth a retry. If you are fully rooted - you may not be able to. I had to revert to stock ROM before it would successfully install the update.

If the phone is running right now, I'd suggest doing a soft reset first (e.g. pull battery out, wait 60 seconds, re-install battery, power on). That may activate the newer software that you installed. Just to clarify on my situation (I only tried to soft reset, after I tried installing the software a 2nd time, thinking that the update didn't take).

Either that or if you want to be "truly" safe, call into Sprint Tech Support. Since they had pulled the initial version and then re-released another version, they may have better answers now (than when I called in on Monday and their only answer was to go into a corporate store).

can somebody help me out..just got my evo if i do the update can i still root it or would i have to wait for a compatible rom?

Updated yesterday after it was re-released and had no problems, didn't even have to reload any widgets. Phone seems a bit snappier, although my battery life seems worse. Maybe it will get better after a few charge/recharge cycles.

Did my update last night after charging to full. Everything went smoothly. Took about 15 mins. No problems with the camera or virtual keyboard after.

Sooo nice to be rid of the grounding issue! I was so skeptical a software could fix what surely seemed like a hardware issue. Glad to be proven wrong!

No noticeable change in wifi. No wifi-n here to test. Scrolling seems much faster and smoother. Battery seems about the same or slightly better. Was worried at first when it dropped a few percent initially, but after leaving it on all night (4g,3g,wifi turned off) it went from like %80 to %74. We'll see how it does with normal use.

Checked for another HTC-software update but showed as up to date. So far so good! Really happy with my EVO now!;)

Hw version 0003

1. had about 5 icons etc. that had to be replaced

2. Update went fine after a couple reboots with no message when checking for new updates to do it again

3. I am not rooted

4. Andriod Wallpaper indeed are gone - thanks :(

5. ShootMe app no longer works due to previous "glitch" that allowed it to work on EVO non-rooted is fixed - thanks  PUT THAT PARTICULAR GLITCH BACK IN WE LIKED IT!!!!!!!!!!!

6. Wifi unverified yet

7. Battery life, seems pretty good, but then again I was one of the few that was able to somehow get my battery to last roughly 18 hours in stby with settings, so for me, battery has been pretty good all along.

8. Oh and my HW version 002, so why isn't there a firmware update for ver 003 if people are showing that version already???

Just updated on non-rooted v0002. Went super-fast in comparison to some. Maybe 4-5 minutes for everything.

I don't think it made disabling the Sense UI impossible like some people are saying. In fact, as soon as my phone was going back to the home screen it asked me if I wanted to use HTC Sense (which I had voluntarily set as the default recently) or Launcher Pro (which I downloaded but decided I liked having my HTC widgets over being able to have my home screen in landscape :/)

So, how do we take screen shots now that ShootMe is obsolete?

Just updated. Last phone bricked with the older version of the update. I was pretty scared to try this one, but since the issue was supposed to have been addressed, I went for it. Everything seems to be working fine. Haven't had enough time to test battery life etc, but none of my widgets got jacked up.

Update in progress, took about 1-2 minutes to download. (via wifi)
Lets see what happens next!

Update
Whole process took about 10 minutes, with a few restarts.
Widgets open just fine, Apps seem to load faster.
Checked updates again, and it said phone was up to date.

At least you got a replacement to your brick. I'm still waiting for the 7th to come along, so I'll have my white EVO replacement.

I lost my Launcher 2.1 during the upgrade, I re-downloaded, and now it won't install to the phone. I used the default launcher 2.1 to change my icons. Anyone have a fix?

Haha yeah. I've been with Sprint for less than 2 weeks now, so they promptly took care of me since I was still in the 30 day window :D. I don't know if I'll regret not waiting for the white EVO or not, but so far I'm happy with it all. This bad update thing still has me a little worried about future updates though. Never had something like that happen to me before.

It would be my guess that the bad update was a lesson learned for htc/sprint, and won't be happening again soon if ever.
