T-Mobile FROYO update

according to my system task panel I've gpt 32.5m free system storage and 15.6m free application storage...does this mean I need to do a lot of uninstalling before attemping this?
 
What's the verdict then chaps?

I haven't been prompted to download the update yet, but when I manually search for an update it finds 2.2. Is this the case for everybody? Or should I wait to be prompted?

Also, is it worth downloading it at the moment? Or are there a lot of problems?
 
Just d/l and installed 2.2, update went without problems. Think the rest of the day will end up being written off as will be too busy playing about with it :D

I installed the flashplayer 10.1 and seems to have helped a lot (thought it might be the flash), it crashed once on main bbc football site but the football link above worked. the progress bar still hangs for a while near 90/95% region whilst loading everything before completing.

have you tried with plugins turned off - think that turns the flash off - check if its that

internet > settings > plugins
 
I only had about 19mb internal space free when i manually checked for this update. I downloaded over wifi, took about 15 mins to install. Everything working as it should. Gone through almost every option, setting and app.

Favourite bit so far, the mic key on the keyboard and the new/improved message app.
 
All downloaded and installed. It all seems to have gone ok. Touch wood.

I've read stories about people losing all their apps and data etc. All my apps are still there etc. I assume this is because I set my phone to back up my data?

Dunno. Mine is all there too. I'd read someone said there was an option to backup first, but in the mad rush i just clicked OK to everything to get it on there. :rolleyes:

There is an option on your phone which you can tick in order to back up your data. I assume mine backed up and restored it all because that was ticked. I recall ticking it when I first set up the phone.
 
Besides Apps2SD and Wi-Fi Hotspot and it's slightly faster, I've not noticed much of a difference but that's because for the 20 minutes I've had it I've been looking how to sync my Calendar with Facebook :p Anyone know how this is done? :confused:

I haven't looked into any of the Facebook sync stuff. I didn't bother because of all the problems people were having from day one. Has the update fixed all of those problems with syncing Facebook?
 
updated but will not load screen after unlock. comes up with loading, then "the app HTC sense ( process com. htc .launcher ) has stopped unexpectedly please try again. Force close. can get wifi signal up, google voice search and into twitroid and most used apps but not settings . tried 5 or 6 different ways but still same. will plug into laptop and see if can get further !

Microphone on keyboard, message apps is different and allows attachments. News & Weather app, Flashlight torch. 720p recording. Multi-rotate. App sharing. Videos App.

Those are what i've noticed. Off to try facebook...

Where does one find this microphone on the keyboard? Is it when composing a message or something? If so, I don't seem to be able to find it.
 
Well.....News Feed doesn't work (An error had occurred while fetching data) and Notifications don't work (Cannot retrieve notifications....parse 601 error).

Are these known errors then and will it be fixed, or a work-around??

Yeah, it's most places. If you go into messages, compose message, it will be 2 keys left of the space bar, it is shared with language. Press for language, or LONG press for the microphone to come up. Speak in and it will type your text. Result!
 
I am probably being a bit dim here, in which case apologies, but why is it necessary for me to have a network connection enabled to use this speech to text function?

SORTED. Apparently it works by sending a stream of my voice to Google(?) servers.
