Root Take A Stab At 2 Weird Problems (browser redirects and dead web links)

Well im on a phone so i have to be concise. The title is a little over simplified.

Phone Facts:

Rooted
Miui 2.3.7
Austrie kernel
No antivirus installed
phone pretty great otherwise

Weird Problem 1

My internet browser automatically redirects to SPB launcher website and its getting REALLY annoying. It does this even though my home page is google....always. It only does it on miui rom.

Weird Problem 2

I cannot click on any major website links at the top of google search results. For example if i type in Diapers.com i cannot click on diapers.com i have to click on a minor link like diapers.com/careers. Im guessing i may have installed an antivirus or done a build prop change but this is a problem no matter what rom i use. I currently have NO antivirus installed now so should i reinstall and see if it has a setting i messed up? I imagine at inone point i was inendated with advertisements and changed something so now i get fewer ads but cant click on any major links even across roms, kernals and data and cache and dalvic wipes?

Can it be a virus that is only mildly intrusive or do you suspect i changed a setting???
 
If it's a virus (I doubt it) you should install Avast Mobile Security. It's free and has great detection rates. Have it update and run a scan. If it doesn't find anything, uninstall Avast (it was a memory hog on the Triumph even though it's improved) since our phone is aging and cannot really have something running in the background 24/7. Then, if that doesn't work, try wiping the cache, dalvik, and formatting /system and then reflashing the ROM, GAPPs, and Supersu (if you use it), but try it first without wiping data. That way you keep your data but you may be able to fix the issue. If that fails to work, we can investigate further.
 
I have the same problem. I think it's because I have adfree installed and a blocklist with opera. The links at the top of Google are ads and the redirect is blocked.
 
Of links i needed like "diapers.com". And yes the quite expensive SPB launcher been paid for in full but im redirected to its website EVERYTIME even though my searches are set to google.

So im going to make an ad/no ad backup og miui so now im only down to this single weird issue. Ive flashef, wiped, checked settings etcetera several times.
 
Maybe a hosts file hijack or something. I know of this great program called Adaway. Download and install it from the Play Store. Have it download and install the HOSTS file updates. Tap the action bar (the menu bar) and tap scan for adware. Let me know if anything suspicious comes up. It detects all sorts of junk. If that doesn't come up with anything, maybe the search settings XML file is screwed up somehow. I wish I knew where any sort of config file for this browser is, so I could help you fix it.
