Tempted to Cancel EVO for iPhone

Holy cow! I thought that was a joke until I looked at the domain name.

No it's real... Not much you can do with the 2gb data cap... Netflix? Forget it!... MLBTV? Forget it!.... You Tube? Forget it!!, Pandora? Forget it!

I can't wait to see the explosion of complaints after the iPhone is out for 30 days and people start getting their data bills from AT$T...

It's basically a phone and texting device... Thats it unless you are willing to pay $$$$$$$$$$$ for the data you will use....

I get so much cr@p from my coworkers for leaving apple/ATT that i would never poke fun at someone for making a descision they would be happy with. I love Sprint and the Evo. If you like the iPhone 4 better or the new Winmo 7 Thunder looks good wait for it to come out and see them in person. If you don't root and use verry little data go for it. I would blow up my data plan, plus I am smack dab in the middle of 4G wimax territory so I definatly want the evo. I get 3.5 down on my clear dongle so I know the phone will be smoking fast at the end of the day.

You know the average iPhone user will likely be fine with 200 mb. personally I would have rather seen 500 for my iPhone pals. 2 gb is too little for a power user. The funny thing is my co-workers are OK with this and say they will just use wifi and so on. Personally I hate the idea of being chrged for overages. That is why Sprint owns when it comes to a calling plan. Now I know not everyone gets good sprint coverage. Newer Winmo 7 and Android phones will also benefit people to make choices towards Verizon over ATT. Imagine when the Dell phone hits and sells 400.000 handset that is going to cripple ATTs network. So obviously ATT looks at data phones as a liability. Wimax is supposedly slower then LTE but more efficient. So I think that is why sprint can offer the data plans they will offer on 4G. Plus is it is in select areas giving them time to grow it. If they don't efff it up :P

From last year around this time:
Average iPhone user consumes 400MB of data every month|Edible Apple

The people that Apple (or any hardware company) wants, those that will go out for the latest and greatest tech, are the people that AT&T hates the most since they want to use up so much bandwidth. But everyone will eventually want to use more and more bandwidth. That is the trend.

I've used 800mb already and it's only been halfway through my phone bill. lol I've been using it "lightly".

Some people here are forgetting this little fact, most smart phone owners don't use it for smart phone cababilities. They own them because its the "in" thing right now. Most smartphone owners only use capabilities your most modest feature phone can offer.

I was really disappointed with the new iPhone details, not because I would ever want one, but because they have typically driven innovation in the industry and pushed their competitors to continue to make better and better devices for the rest of us. I don't think the new iPhone does that at all - they've been equaled or surpassed in the hardware department, and the new software only catches them up to basic multitasking. The screen is nice, and the processor upgrade will be beneficial, but other than that, nothing much to speak of. But who knows, they may have something grand up their sleeve and they're holding out another while because they know they can sell millions of these 4th gen iPhones even if they are nothing special. That's kind of how they work if you haven't noticed.

Pre iPhone I switched to Sprint because ATT did not have a consumer unlimited data plan. They had 8mb for $11 a month and 10 cents per kb if I remember correctly. I found a business plan for $35 a month. I switched to Sprint and they had data for $15 unlimited. I then saw the apple icandy and was hooked paying 15 more a month for ATT service. Then I got swindled to 3G only to pay 10 more and lost txt. So ATT bamboozled us while we were all hypnotized by icrack. So long and short of it was Morphious told be to take the red pill but the palm pre sucked. The second the HTC Hero came out I was hooked. It was a tide me over for the EVO 4. I am glad the nexus never came to sprint hehe. I am not suprised that ATT is data non frienly. They have a history of it.

I used to video edit and can tell you for a fact that they do that sort of thing. Oh no your G5 will work for years (apple sales). Six months later intel procs come out and Adobe cs3 does not support g5. So much for learning CS3 grrrr

I don't get it. What's with the new Iphone that is so great? The look? It looks like Incredible. The functions? Android has all of them, except Gyro.

Any new features? Not really. It's mostly just the outlook and screen that has been changed. iOS 4, is barely and upgrade from previous OS.

yeah the iphone looks nice and all but it doesnt do it for me. i love my android phone and have always loved android. i wouldnt switch to crap at+t for nothin in the world, not even the newest iphone. wait til 2.2 hits these android phones and then see what all the apple fanboys have to say about that.

I know what they'll say. "The iPhone still looks better!!!!" Of course, when we talk about functionality, they talk about aesthetics. The iOS does look better, but I don't really care. :D

I kid I kid.. With all the billions Apple makes... Can they get Steve some new clothes? Preferably something not in the turtleneck/mock turtleneck neighborhood.

i think google should send him an android t shirt after his little wifi incident yesterday LOL

I actually prefer the EVO 4G's look over iPhone 4's look. The EVO 4G uses much more of the actual phone for its screen. So much of the iPhone 4 is just "wasted space" when they easily could've put in a larger 3.7" screen. I also like the look of the red ring around the camera lens. The only positive for the iPhone 4 is its slimmer form factor.

What's so appealing about a glass box for a phone? What happens if you drop it o.o I sure as hell don't want a glass phone.

And how is the ui more appealing? Its a grid of icons... nothing more, nothing less. We have icons too! Customizable at that, with widget data streams should we choose to. So yeah.... people who say the iphone ui is better, obviously haven't seen the other million phones that have the same thing, but better

Why did you quote me? lol

I know people with the Evo, and they really love it (do you?). It has many features that the iPhone has (and I believe you can use the front-facing camera over 3G/4G!).

There's a lot of things to consider, but I think the FIRST you should go with is how AT&T's network fares against Sprint's in your area. Why have an awesome phone that you can't use?

Its ok, your girl might accept your 3.5 inches, My girl likes my 4.3" .
Iphone is almost outdated before it comes out. No screen size update, no storage update? Seems they are keeping it as cheap as they can for more profit.

You aren't overcompensating for anything, are you? ;)

The new iPhone looks very nice. No doubt.

It falls short in two huge departments, though, for me to take it seriously: (1) customization, and (2) AT&T.

I'll keep my Incredible, thank you.

First Broken iPhone 4 Shows New Glass Isn't That Resistant

the thing is you're saying "wait until" while apple is saying "available now."
i kept "waiting until" on my hero and same goes with a few other friends with miscellaneous android phones from other companies and "wait until" is just this huge empty promise usually and carries a lot of uncertainty. and don't you think that by the time "until" comes around apple would have already announced something new or at least have been halfway through a development cycle?

Really? REALLY?

Since it first came out, other than the addition of apps, how has iPhone OS improved until iOS 4 was just announced?

For like 4-5 years later, iOS 4 is hardly an improvement over the iPhone OS that preceded it.
