we all support the police.. but their needs to be a better process of weeding out bad seeds before they get in.
better training.. and better monitoring.

but Trump will want.. when in office.. a special police force he can control directly to use again unwanted minorities.

And for the record: ALL top chiefs in every country of Earth have "that special police force" to deal with whatever minorities they feel need addressed. Plz don't make ppl think it's not a normal position/job perk to have that assigned troop available cuz it's VERY prevalent throughout the world, we just don't discuss it much due to other issues/ideas. I’ve Changed. This Is War. Seal the Borders....
But I say seal the borders. People hoping to relocate to the U.S. from Syria, Iraq, and anywhere in the Middle East, and people coming here from France, England, Sweden, and wherever will be upset, at least for a while. There may be some unfairness to this. But I don’t care. Wars breed unfairness, just as they breed collateral damage.​

So.... Having read that article... you think "Reality" is people who want to stop all international air travel to the USA?

But I say seal the borders. People hoping to relocate to the U.S. from Syria, Iraq, and anywhere in the Middle East, and people coming here from France, England, Sweden, and wherever will be upset, at least for a while. There may be some unfairness to this. But I don’t care. Wars breed unfairness, just as they breed collateral damage. We may set back tourism. We may anger Saudi princes whose kids are in American schools. But so be it. We need a wartime footing if we are going to protect the American homeland.

Wow.. I was pretty sure that the reason we went through the cost of the TSA and international variations was so that we could keep air travel going... because the alternative was letting terrorist win!

(of course I'm not sure where all these US citizens are going to fly back from, because if you freeze the border to the rest of the world, then the rest of the world will do the same.... )

As a neutral observer, a UK born citizens, who has visited the US twice (2009 & 2013) with his family (yes Orlando FL), and who has several American friends in RL and on line I can only sit gobsmacked that "sealing borders" and putting the US on an unsaid "at war" footing is even being thought of. Really? Are you sure?

Despite the US' undeniable power, military, economically , and diplomatically I think that would be a huge mistake. The world is truly global and would deal with US self imposed isolationism (for that is what is being proposed), much better than the US itself would, even in the short term.

Yes we in the "free world" and beyond are at war with Daesh (don't call then ISIL or ISIS - they are just Daesh scum) and other murdering, barbarous terrorist scum who twist the world faith of Islam, into a hideous, nihilistic death cult. We are at war, and should be at war with them. Let me be very clear, they can't be reasoned with, their beliefs and actions are monstrous and they deserve nothing but death and extermination.

This however is not a war that can be won by closing borders, suspending rights of our citizens or invading or attacking an agressor nation. We have to be careful. While US, French and now (rightly IMHO) British jets bomb targets in Syria, destroying Daesh infrastructure and precision bombing to minimise "collateral damage" (ie ordinary innocent Syrians) at the same time killing as many Daesh scum as possible, we have to have pacience, and even more grating we have to work with Putin and Assad.

We are not at war with Islam or with Muslims. Just like we are not at war with Christianity and Christians, or Judaism and Jews.

We are at war with an idea, one that twists and perverts, makes ordinary people tools of evil through insane ideologies and lies. We live in free society where even insane ideologies (radical Islam, white supremacists who claim to be Christian etc), can be expressed within the law. This is our strength, not a weakness. Daesh scum suppress every thing they disagree with. We donot.

The very fact I can type all this in public over an open Wi-Fi connection, and be recognised and yet fear nothing by it is showing how precious our freedom is.

That is why I am gobsmacked. Close your borders with the rest of the world US and we will cope, all of us everywhere in the free world. But none of us will be free, as we know it ever again, and Daesh, maybe not tomorrow, maybe not in five years time, will win.

You can't, ISIS (call them Daesh - stop giving them legitimacy) are not one single entity. They would change their name, relocate their headquarters, such as they are, and change leaders. They are nebulous by nature. The nature of a NATO or UN agreement for that matter makes them useless.


Already we should have pushed a resolution of war against ISIS through the UN Security Council.
last time I looked Russia were permanent members of the UN. They'd either vito such a proposal or make any US president beg, can't see China being very happy either. No the UN is no longer to be trusted, keep them at arms length. Use then wisely as has been done so far.

Already we should have convened meetings with our Mideast allies to formally declare war against ISIS. Already the U.S. Congress should have issued a formal declaration of war against ISIS.

Absolutely, no questions about it. However do you think a US Congress, split down the middle, so partisan it couldn't stop it's own government closing down last year cound agree for the five minutes of would take to get a bill like they through. Proposed by either side? Also, you really think the Saudi's haven't been talked with? The nature of the power base in Saudi Arabia precludes open discussions with them. The house of Saud has it's own struggle with extreme forms of Islam.

Look, if me, a white working class Englishman up since 4.30am, because of acid reflux can tear that to pieces. What would a hardened Republican/Democrat Congressman do with it.? Or even better, a Russian diplomat in the UN?
