What you see in the pics is the FIX version of the Tetrax mount. Your phone will definitely spin using this model if the charging cable is hanging and weighing it down. In my case, I am using a 8 inch cable that I got somewhere (can't remember where) and it actually is what prevents the phone from spinning. If you get the Xway version, it has rubber arms that will prevent it from spinning.

Unfortunately, this is one of the issues with Tetrax. XWay is necessary for a stable horizontal positioning. But the issue will still remain since you can not adjust the angle of the device because FIX mounts parallel to the surface while XWay mounts parallel to air vent. M2/XWay referenced by Jaxx10 above is a perfect combo where you have magnet to hold the phone, XWay arms to keep the phone steady, and M2 Soundgate to adjust the angle. But it is pricey since XWay will cost you $40+ shipped.

So, just as additional data for people thinking of buying this setup, I have almost an identical setup to Jaxx10, posted above. The Soundgate M2, where I removed the little tilting disc-holder and replaced it with the Tetrax XWay by tightening the clamps (that usually clamp to the vents) on the bolt. All very easy - the bolt that holds on the disc holder simply unscrews and slides out, you remove the disc holder, and slide the bolt back in.
I am using the smallest metal Tetrax disc that came in the package, it has a little crosshair on it. It is just barely smaller than the Motorola "M" logo on the battery cover, and in fact, I mounted it right in that logo because the logo is centered on the phone after I measured. Since the Motorola logo is etched in relief on the cover, I did not trust the sticky tape (not enough surface area) and chose to Gorilla Glue the disc to the battery cover. I figure the battery cover is replaceable.
Random thoughts:
- I have the extended battery, so the disc sits up JUST high enough that it ever so slightly lifts the bottom end of the phone off of flat surfaces. Not a problem for me (the camera hump weights the other side and stabilizes it), but it's there. If I had chosen to mount the disc off-center, I probably could have mounted it closer to the camera hump and eliminated this problem. If you are using the stock battery cover, it will not be an issue.
- The rubber "X" arms are good when interacting with the phone to keep it from rocking backwards when pushing on buttons off-axis (e.g. menu/home/back/search). They do not, however, work very well in keeping the phone from rotating clockwise/counterclockwise on its axis. They resist it slightly but if you were to, say, dangle a long length of USB cable from the phone, I'm guessing you'd get some movement.
Very happy with the setup overall. I can swing it back flat against my dashboard so it doesn't really look like a GPS mount (i.e. not inviting thieves to rummage through my car), and it's easy to put on and take off.
Will take some pictures later hopefully.

I've had the XWay in my Charger for a month or so and love it. My vents close behind the shutters so I just close it, although It does still get pretty cold when the AC is going. The camera hump in the X makes the metal piece you attach to it a non-factor, the phone still sits level on a desk.
This is my M2/X-Way dock setup in my truck. It's a very clean setup and I'm more than happy with it.
I also have the $6.00 Motorola charger from Amazon. This charger has a clip that I patiently wound to the other end of the cord (which took a while..lol). I wrap the cord around the M2 mount and secure with the clip. This actually supports the phone and keeps it level in landscape.

The magnet on the X-Way is plenty strong. I doubt even a Dell Streak 5" would pull it off.

I am not sure it will stay on the soft rubber case when you pull it off. It will stick on there no problem in a static state, however I think it is too elastic to endure the stress of taking off the actual mount.
I used it on a hard gel case, and it worked.
The disk does not leave any residue/markings. So if you love your case, you could mount the disk to the phone, and cut out where it would penetrate through the case. Make sense?
