Help Text Messages Disappearing

mine lost all my messages this morning and I'm pretty upset about it.
Messages were there when I woke up as I sent a message to a friend.
when he replied, I went to check it and there were NO messages at all.

what program are you guys using to back up to gmail?
phone is not rooted, no new apps installed, running 2.2
 
Well it happened again...3rd time! I don't have any SMS or anti virus apps installed. Something is wrong with this phone. It's only happened after the 2.2 update. I wish Verizon would get the iphone. I just cannot convince myself to switch to AT&T.
 
yes, I don't quite understand where Handcent stores the stored messages list.
I've uninstalled it before and gone through and wiped out every trace I could find for handcent and when I reinstall, the text messages comes back?
But then I installed Chomp and it started with a clean slate and started its own list. I later went back to Handcent and reinstalled and no longer had the lag I had immediately after the 2.2 release so I'm still running it now.... have never had it delete my text messages though.

My point being.... unless someone knows where this list is kept and stored, its hard to know if another app is interfering with it or deleting it.
 
I got a few responses from them before, but it was a while back.. I"m sure they are plenty busy since their product is so popular and its still free!
 
Happened to me twice. Fortunately I have Spritemobile Backup set to back up everything to DropBox every night. A few touches and I got them back as of 0300 this morning.

Very annoying though!
 
Same situation here. Woke one morning with everything gone. It's good thing I really don't care to have lost them, but I would certainly prefer to be in control of when they get deleted. If anyone find a cause and / or resolution to this, please respond.
 
Lost mine a couple weeks ago, lost some very valuable texts and pictures. Hasn't done it since, but I am still fuming about this.
 
Just happened to me a second time. Last time I thought I might have done something but now I see others are having the same problem. Pisses me off!
 
I just looked at my phone and all my text messages got deleted? Are they gone for good? Also I manually delete my messages I don't let the droid do it automatically! I miss my blackberry now...
 
I use "SMS backup +" it converts all my texts to emails and is listed in my gmail account in a folder called SMS. It's free and works pretty well
 
This happened to me a few days ago too. First I noticed my message widget was missing and when I brought it back, my text messages were gone.

<smh>
 
Well, my phone randomly deleted my text messages. And yes I've searched and read most threads about the randomly deleted ones. My limit was set to 5000 and delete old messages was unchecked. My question is if I use a file recovery to go into both the phone or sd card, would there be a file that i can use to restore them? Or are they gone? If they are truly gone, Oh well...no biggie.
 
I believe they're gone, that's happened to me 3 times now. there's a free app in the market called "sms backup and restore" I have yet needed to restore anything, but so far backing up has worked great.
 
Does anyone have a fix for this problem yet?

I've had it happen to me about 3-4 times after the update to 2.1 months ago. It happened to me the most often when I completely turned off the phone for a bump charge. When I turned the Inc back on, all my texts would be gone. But today, I was texting friends all morning, was making lunch plans, and then when I went to check a new message that I saw on the unlock screen, they just all disappeared.

This sucks!!
 
What text program are you using?.. the default?
Those apps can all delete all threads....

I use Handcent and haven't had such issues.
 
Default text messaging app here and it happened to me over the weekend. What a fist full of suck.
