thanks for making me welcome here...yes...sarcasm..and no, I am not dumb enough to send credit card info...I will be leaving now...there is nothing stating you need to be a senior member to be here...thanks for this.

thanks frisco, I am not some dumb person...I have had computer programming training, have been online since 1993, first on local bulletin board systems where I was the system operator, then AOL, then various ISPs, now work in law enforcement, just am having problem with my tmobile mytouch 3g after they did the operating sytem upgrade..

It's good to see an experienced, tech savvy person in here.

I'm sure you know how diverse forums can be, not only in user's experience and lack thereof, but also in personalities, etc.

thanks..it was just the whole thread where I asked if a self proclaimed geek could join you all here...made me feel like some bimbo...saying I had to give credit card info...do certain tasks...be a senior member...etc...now I have been a lot of forums...and I know there is a lot of sarcasm around but to do that to a new person when they dont know the various personalities strike a wrong mood for the new person..
 
Aww.. yeah, I agree. Please try to stay here. Being an experienced person in the world of technology can be helpful in forums.
 
Nobody's saying you're dumb. My uncle builds robots but he doesn't know how to operate his TV remote :P I'm an IT major and a programmer, yet I can't use my smartphone lol.

Sometimes you just need a breather. I know it's frustrating but you'll get a hang of it. Try to take a break for a while, it really helps.

As you know sometimes people don't mean what they type, it's hard to see emotion with only texts.
 
OP - I'm sorry for what happened. Here at AF we pride ourselves on having a forum that is helpful to ALL users regardless if "seniority" or knowledge. In fact, our Forum Rules and Zero Tolerance Policy specifically state this as well! Whenever you (or anyone) comes across people breaking the rules, click the "! Report" button to let us know and we'll remind them of the rules. :)

I get in trouble all the time for cracking jokes where seriousness is wanted, and the opposite, too: being serious where folks are having fun joking around. :D

I'm sorry that you felt the victim of sarcasm, Char_in_md, but knowing the members in the thread I'm certain the intention was tongue-in-cheek humour rather than anything vindictive. The ranking system is solely based on post count and is therefore meaningless; it's a frequent source of amusement and leg-pulling. Please don't let a simple misunderstanding turn you away.
 
thanks....but when you are new...and the first response to a jokey post...and yes that's what mine was calling myself a self-proclaimed geek, asking if I could join you all here...is a simple "no" and then it goes on to say if i dont know the tasks I have to do, I wasnt invited...on and on...to a new person who does not "know" the personalities behind what is being said...it feels "wrong" if anyone can relate? but I will take you all at your word and remain...because I like being on a tech forum...and do need to find out more about my phone even though I know a lot about it...since tmobile did their upgrade..it has had a lot of problems...:p
 
Hey Char_in_md. I am deeply sorry for this confusion but I assume that you missed my hidden comment. If you go back to that thread, you will see something where it says "Show" under my "No." reply. If you click on it, you will see that I said... "lol JK! Of course you can. Welcome!" I didn't know that you missed that. I thought you saw that I was joking when you said... "is that anyway to treat a new person? LOL" If I had known, I would've clarified that I was only joking to the rhetorical question that you asked in your first post... which anyone would have answered an obvious "Yes".

I also did not know that you were actually serious when when you said "and what might those tasks be?" When you're on here longer, you'll know that a lot of us on here are jokers that mean to do no harm at all. I thought the whole time that everything was lighthearted.

I would NEVER seriously demand for someone's credit card information. It was a joke that I knew no one would believe.

I was part of that thread and would like to apologize also. I really assumed you realized we were more picking at each other rather than you. But would still like to apologize that we made you feel uncomfortable. We do try to help everyone we can here, sometimes we just get carried away with the fun part. If you feel uncomfortable just let us know we will be happy to just give a hand and leave the joking for another thread.

I too want to apologize to everyone here...I guess you should know I came from a particularly nasty forum recently, believe it or not it was a golden retriever forum...who would have thunk it...and now I know it was all in good fun I do hope you accept my apology...and I can take a joke as well as the next...working where I work, you have to be able to...and oh...for the last part..I am a she..not a he! LOL :p
