The best camera in the world...

Hello Tim!

The insanity that is the 14th St corridor in DC. The restaurant I work for, Le Diplomate, is in the foreground. :)
(first time playing with Snapseed. Need some more practice)

Chilly morning at the neighborhood farmer's market. Sounds like they'll be going through the first couple weeks of December! Picked up some potatoes, apples and brussel sprouts. :D
Putting the potatoes (along with rosemary) in some sourdough today!

From dinner last night. Duck breast with a spicy pomegranate sauce, green beans and almonds and creamy goat cheese polenta. :D
(oh yeah, and some Aussie red wine ;))

Although it's very grey autumn weather today, we went for a stroll in the old city center of nearby Leiden. Saturday is market day.

Taken this morning from the 9th floor of the Silver Cloud Hotel (right next to Seahawks Stadium...err..CenturyLink Field) in Seattle just before a meeting. This is looking west towards Pier 46 with the Alaskan Way Viaduct (soon to be replaced with a tunnel courtesy of "Big Bertha"). In the background are the Olympic Mountains. It was a frigid yet clear morning. Taken with a Galaxy S4 in HDR mode.

My son and I went birding today. The Sandhill cranes are back in the park right by my house, not sure how long they will stay though as the field they like has been plowed.

We no sooner got home and warmed up when he read there were some White Wing scoters about 45 minutes away. We bundled up and headed out but couldn't really find them. On the way home I suggested we go look for the Bald eagles that sometimes are near the falls. Stopped above the falls and saw some gulls and geese.

But really, we were after the eagles. To the falls we went and saw nothing so wandered downstream a few hundred feet to find these two beauties hanging out in a tree over the river. They were about 50-75 feet away from us. We were more than happy with our find!

I found my best camera ever when I walked into Target looking for an iron and found a Sony CyberShot DSC-H2 on clearance for $89! The guy who waited on me couldn't believe it was marked down that low (it sells for around $700-$800 retail). We took it out of the box, popped in some batteries and played around with it, but we couldn't find anything wrong that warranted such a discount.

I got the camera, batteries and a memory card for it and walked out of the store with a big grin on my face. Oh, and I also did find an iron. That was back in 2003 or 2004 and it still works great. Here are some pics I've taken with it....

I used to have a sweet little point and shoot Sony that had way more flexibility than my current Cybershot. I took all sorts of night shots with it and a tripod. It would keep that shutter open as long as it took to get the shot, and it took awesome endless programmable stop motion video (found one I made at a bar i worked at here), but this Canon, while it takes excellent pictures for a point and shoot, doesn't take long exposures or stop motion video. :(
If anyone has a suggestion for an inexpensive point and shoot with that kind of flexibility, it doesn't have to be new...

Took this shot from across the street while dropping off two of the grand kids at school.
