Took the dogs for a walk yesterday on the Western Washington University campus...it's a great place to walk when school is out of session. The campus is beautiful and well laid out. Galaxy S4 (HDR mode).

If anyone has a suggestion for an inexpensive point and shoot with that kind of flexibility, it doesn't have to be new...

The Canon 320 HS is pretty decent (and affordable) little point-and-shoot. There's also the PowerShot ELPH 320 HS, which has a long shutter speed and takes 1080p full HD Video at 24 frames per second.

And after Larry the Angry Lizard did not trust me that much (yet) he / she / it starting biting me but it was all in VAIN as he / she realised I just wanted take Larry back to the promised land up out of the road onto the HIIIIIGH pavement climb and Larry was back to safety - in the promised land!

I LOVE IT!!!!!!looks like the one I have in my dining room my brother and cousin each had one of my grandmothers original Sputniks...and I always loved them so much...so a couple years ago I bought a Spider type pendant that somewhat resembled the Sputnik..from a wholesaler in China...and he sent me the wrong one! Although I'm not complaining and I never said a word to the dealer...I didn't have a place to hang it because it is HUGE!!I was going to ebay it or something but never got around to it... I looked it up online and it's well over 10x the amount I paid for it so to make a short story long... I just recently moved to a bigger house...strong armed my little brother into giving me the sputnik..AND the gothic Spider Chandelier found a home in my dining room...I was LOL when we hung it..couldn't wait to hear what my mother and in laws had to say all I need is a skull in the middle...and I'm good to go!!! Imma gonna take a pic right now and post it

Ack! Those pictures of COLD WEATHER give me bad memories of living in Dallas. I am so glad I'm home in Southern California. I sat out on my patio for hours today, barefoot and in short pants, playing with the water (ostensibly freshening up the patio fountain), and basking in the warmth. The 80+ degree warmth.

The first one is from the Madre fire in September (taken at dusk), the second from the Station fire in August, 2009--which raged for almost two months! Both were taken from my front yard.

PS I'll take earthquakes, wildfires, mudslides ANY DAY over tornadoes, hurricanes, ice, snow, and single digit temperatures. This California girl is ecstatic to be home and never have to deal with those again!

So as I was sitting outside in the 85 degree, sunny, perfect [almost a little too hot] weather today, I thought, gee, maybe I should shoot some pics of my poinsettia plant! It's Christmas, right?

I potted this two years ago; it's in partial shade on my patio, and is HUGE. I never knew poinsettias would spread as much as this one has.
