The best camera in the world...

It wasn't as bad as I thought it'd be, but it was far from good. It was "apple pie", had apple juice and cinnamon in it and was really syrupy and thick. We decided it tasted like one of those big fireball candy things with a helluva kick. lol.

My niece gave it to me because we loved the first few seasons of Moonshiners (with Tim and Tickle) so we had a great time pouring it out and trying it. Don't tell but we even let the kids have a sip! I'd actually like to try some of Tim's (straight up, no flavor), it's supposed to be pretty good. I'll have to figure out a way to get a bottle up here :)

A few pics taken during my family's recent visit.

Flags at Disneyland:

Taken at a park near my house. The temperature was around 80 that day. Ah, "winter" in Southern California. :D

This is what I woke up to this morning, a fast moving fire burning in Azusa/San Gabriel Canyon. When I first heard about it, it was at ~100 acres; right now, 1700 acres. I can hear fire-fighting aircraft but I can't see them because of the smoke.

From my front yard:

Turned 180 degrees on my driveway, showing the path of the smoke:

Brussel sprouts are one of my favorite veggies (if cooked right!).
I was more happy with the butternut squash puree with jalapenos. Have just the right amount of spice and the cherry/red wine sauce on the pork provided the sweetness to balance. Was nice and harmonious. :D

And pearl onions, as 1950's as they may be, are still delicious (and very much bring up memories of holiday meals at home ;)).

Brussels sprouts. .. stirfried with bacon pieces and served in yellow curry sauce :)

I've been looking for these guys for a while, couldn't believe that I found 2. Pics through a fence, 0 degree wind chill, and the (white) adult was waaaaaay far away. Still and all...wow at these guys!! So damn happy that I saw them and actually got some shots.

Doesn't look like much but it's one of the best breads I've made. Sourdough with pumpkin, sunflower seeds, oats. Flavor is just fantastic. It's my final test bread before our competition of sorts to make the best multigrain bread. Making the final one tomorrow. :)

I recently treated myself to two vintage phones. :)

The first is from the 1930s--you can see its ringer box to the side--and the other from the '40s; they both work.
