Forget Opera. Forget Dolphin. It is most definitely all about xScope. xScope is a browser that I only just heard about today. When it first came out, it was powerful, but its simple looks led to it being criminally overlooked. Now, it is by far the sexiest browser available, and the most functional too. If you're looking for the browser to bring an iPhone-like experience to your X, this is it.

If you are a Chrome user on your PC (you should be), you will love xScope. Chrome is all about being crazy powerful while being lightning fast and having a simple, streamlined interface. xScope embodies these principals more fully than any other browser.

xScope features a brand new way to zoom. Double tap and hold, then move left or right to move out or out. Pinch zooming is also available. Both of these methods provide the cleanest zooming of any browser. This is true continuously scaling browsing at its best.

When viewing a single page, xScope can be set to have no visible interface. That means no tab bar at the top, no address bar, and no notification bar. This setting makes the Droid X screen shine oh so brightly. The experience is truly reminiscent of browsing on an Apple device, and you know that's a good thing. Of course, sometimes you need an address bar, so you just swipe down from the top of the screen and it shows up. Another swipe pulls your notification bar back down, and, of course, you swipe down to unfurl that. This successive swiping may sound redundant, but it's very intuitive and a little bit fun.

Long pressing a link causes it to open in a new tab. You can swap between tabs with horizontal swipes. The swiping is rotary, so the direction you swipe is not critical. You can also change tabs by tapping between them at the top of the screen, of course. Tabs are closed by going to the tab page you want to close and then tapping its tab icon at the top of the screen. The closing animation is quite pleasant, again, think Apple.

Oh, and did I mention xScope is hella fast?

Seriously, this browser could have come directly from Google or Apple and it wouldn't be surprising at all. There are still a bunch of slick features that I didn't even mention. But don't take my word for it, try it yourself!

Tried it, it's buggy.

I've tried them all, and I'm back to stock. Dolphin is too difficult to use, the swiping left and right to get the bookmarks and tool bar doesn't work consistently, the tap to zoom thing usually requires multiple taps, and it's confusing and bloated.

Simplicity should be the rule in mobile browsers, Xscope is on the right track at least.
 
The OP sure read like spam, but the developer posts in an xScope thread here, so I doubt it's him. What would anyone else benefit by spamming for xScope?
 
I'm not a spammer, first of all.

Secondly, the zooming might have been buggy once, but it's fantastically smooth now.
 
ive used it for nearly a year and over that time there have been numerous updates and it just keeps getting better. I highly recommend it.
 
Ive used it for the 3 weeks Ive owned the phone. I love it. I keep Skyfire on hand incase I need to watch a video though, but xScope is great!
 
I found xScope like a week into my ownership of the x and it really is great. It was even greater when I figured out bookmarks. Highly recommend.

"Browser," I believe. It's solid enough, but it's nothing like xScope.

Thanks for all the backup on this one everyone. I know I sounded like a salesman, but it really is that good; the best for utilizing your big-ass screen.
 
I have been using it for a while, but I keep finding myself going back to dolphin for one reason...I can never get the text to fit the screen after zooming on xscope like I can on dolphin....maybe something I missed?
 
I liked it enough to buy it. The developer is a pretty good guy who responded promptly and positively to my emails. I prefer Xscope to the others I tried (Browser, Dolphin, Skyfire, Opera) and want to show my appreciation. It was all of $3. It's not like $3 is going to break me.

I do believe there is a limit to the number of favorites/bookmarks/whatever that you can have with the lite version.
 
When in xScope (I like by the way.), how do you return short of using the hard return/back button? Did I miss a gesture when viewing the tutorials??
 
a bit off topic, but what is the deal with the gestures in dolphin? It seems like having to push a button on the screen, then doing the gesture, I might as well just push the button itself..
