The HTC EVO 4G off-topic Banter thread

Ok, i have had the EVO activated for a good amount of time, although haven't been able to get to everything, i will answer questions to the best of my ability.. Just keep it simple and realistic and if i don't know something i will try to find out right away.. You'll get honest simple answers from me, because i haven't done much with the phone yet and im not some who literally dissects the phone EWWW lol..

ASK AWAY..

Just one thing first:
Right out of the box, its grows on you quick, but it takes about an hour to get really really comfortable holding it.. And yes holding it might seem big, but that's because IT IS ALL SCREEN (and i mean alll)! BUT BY NO MEANS IS THE PHONE ITSELF BIGGER than say your phones with a case already on them and everything i compared with it almost fit inside the screen alone lol.. One example it my ipod touch with a gel skin on it: SAME EXACT SIZE! So for all the people who said the phone is too big it's kind of bs.. I have medium size hands and it only get a little awkward when you go to the extreme left side of the screen or extreme right (depending on which hand you use)..

Ok, i like to go in detail about things so i could probably go on forever about just the phone physically.. I'll let you ask the questions..

Please give me a reasonable amount of time with each question, but i will try to answer questions as i see them.. I will be checking periodically throughout the day, because i have a lot of things to do, so there might be several multi-quotes..

Have A Great Day in the mean time!:rolleyes::);):D:p:cool:

Can you post a video of how ESPN looks on Sprint TV?
Thanks

Right now my camera isnt workung right, but i did watch about 10min of espn afte you mentioned it.. honestly the quality on sprint tv still is not good and is similar to what it looks like on other phoned, BUT(a big but) due to the size of the screen it did make it bearable to watch compared to previous phones :). I hope that helps for now.. the big difference was shown frim when you saw the caster speaking(clear) to when they showed the highlights(blurrier).. i will try more throughout the day

Later on i will try to show you a video from my webcam

WOO HOO!!

You're dead to me.

What do you guys suggest downloading... Apps or Apps with widgets.. Im more concerned about the nicer ones with widgets so I can customize the screen the way I want to. This is my first time with Android.. I have been using it since FedEx brought it. 4..5 hrs.

Thanks

Try Beautiful Widgets for a start.

Umm widgets are nice but not all apps have them. I wouldn't not download an app just because it didn't have a widget but i also wouldn't download an app I didn't want simply because it does have a widget. I only run one or two widgets per screen depending on the size on my Hero and just put icons for the programs I use most everywhere else

does the camera lens protrude from the metal ring, slightly recessed or flush. My biggest fear is i will set the phone done face up and end up scratching the camera lens.

Can you make it through the day with a single charge (moderate use)?

I cannot (well, barely). I don't make phone calls. I have four email accounts that I have set up to update every five minutes. I use Google Maps extensively (and the GPS is on, obviously) and some web use. I watched <1 minute of TV to see the quality (it's pretty darn good and I'm on 3G). Bluetooth is off; WiFi is off. I'll try having my email update less often... so far, I'm unimpressed with the battery life but I've not done more than a few charge/discharge cycles, yet, and often it takes 10+ to get the full capacity of out these types of batteries.

Are you charging via the USB to a computer? I have the Hero with the same battery(I believe) and USB / Computer is so incredibly slow, it's like a trickle charge. If I charge through an outlet or via my car charger, I can go from dead to full in a little over an hour.
