Yeah, I'm hoping that when my upgrade comes up in March, there will be something that blows them both away. I think quad-core is a possibility in that time frame.

I know that everyone want ICS, but many phones will eventually have it or be upgraded to it. However, IF you buy a hardware limited phone, there is not upgrading. I'd like more than a 200 mhz upgrade with an Sd slot and HDMI. I cannot upgrade those limitations. IMHO, you're better off with a top of the the line hardware phone and waiting for 6 months for a software upgrade.

Yeah but sometimes those software upgrades may not even come out. Some times they will be bloated up... well all of the time except in Google phones. Oh and on top of that, I love vanilla and unlocked bootloaders.

I should clarify. Two things. 1) ICS-nice but didn't floor me. 2) Nexus Prime-one heck of a nice phone. No micro sd slot or removable battery slightly concern me but the darn screen size and resolution really seem nice.

The droid razr is the one that has no removable battery. It does have a micro sd slot though so it's a tradeoff on those 2 things.

curious. how do companies handle a phone that doesn't have a removable battery? meaning: what if you get a complete lock up? i've had this happen to apple devices before where i had to wait 2 days for the battery to die before i could get it to reset. i hope i wouldn't have to do similar with the razr

There's supposed to be a set of key presses that does the same thing as a battery pull.

It was my top choice, but not enough to replace the DX (that I'm loosing interest in). The freaking hard buttons don't shut off! Still after all the updates! That and the screen is too bright on night mode for use as a clock. LCD sucks for that. I definitely need AMOLED.
The prime sucks on a few factors that are vital to me:
No mSD card. No where to put movies for my week long trips with no cell service. I take movies to the gym and watch them while running, etc.
No HDMI. I use it for hotel rooms and movies.
1.2ghz, not much of a jump for a top of the line phone.
The cloud based storage doesn't work for me. And, it won't work with those that have limited data plans. Silly idea to force it on people without the ability to add another 32gb card for a few bucks.
I'll wait for the Galaxy S III in Jan/Feb/March time frame. DX lives on till then.

It's GPU is not only 5X faster then the GPU in the DX at the same speed, but it's also clocked almost twice as fast. Plus it has double the memory.

And that's not including things like unlocked bootloader, no blur, faster updates, NFC, and HD screen. If those matter to you.

I think you'll be waiting a LOT longer than March for the SGSIII. These phones just got released in the US this month. SE Asia and EU may see them by June, but I bet they won't reach the US until Q3 at earliest.

I'll have to wait to see if there is not SD slot. I can live with the Nexus if has the HDMI/USB option, but must have that SD. Nothing has ever mentioned it, just hoping it was an advertising oversight or not worth mentioning it. I can cave in to the 1.2mhz processor, has HDMI, must have the additional storage. I'll look at it when I get back from the deployment.

May be dual core, may have a different cored cpu, but only a 200 mhz improvement in speed is not enough to get me to scream and rave about it. Feels more like going from a 486 SX/25 to a 486 DX/50 (for the youngs ones in here Google it ) It sounds goods and looks good on paper, but very disappointing. If they would have at least put a dual core 1.5 ghz cpu in there, then maybe, just maybe, that might have helped, but 1.2 just isn't going to cut it for me for what is being taunted as the big bad flag ship phone boy, don't care what name they stick on the phone.

The Primes PowerVR SGX540 GPU is very antiquated, from 2007 and although they have bumped up the speed a bit, it's no match for the iPhones GPU which benches at almost twice as fast. I don't know why Bionic and Prime have the older GPU's.

Don't forget about the Razr, it has the same GPU as the two you just mentioned.......though the GNex's GPU is overclocked to 384MHz, compared to the other two 304MHz, we'll see how much of a difference that makes..............

Yeah, IME, chipsets with just increased frequency speeds don't yield great results. The Nexus has such a big display, having a cutting edge gpu just seems like the logical thing to do.

I was also disappointed on the graphics chip front, the iphone 4S is way ahead on that and only that (something I really hate admitting). And the sgx 540 is old but overclocking can make a pretty big difference. The optimus 3d is supposedly running a sgx 540 overclocked to 300mhz and it beats the mali on the gl benchmark 2.0 pro under the same conditions. Compared to a normal sgx 540 the mali is a huge step up so that is pretty good imo. And if the one in the prime is clocked even higher like you guys are saying, then it should be pretty good even if it's not nearly as good as the sgx 543 in the 4s.

I just saw an ad for a desktop dock and car dock. Those are really BIG in my book of importance. Decision is getting harder. How much internal memory does it have? I don't think I've read it anywhere. I don't think 16 is enough, but 32 and no memory card would work.
Glad I'm deployed and cannot buy a phone now. Hard decision. I'm being forced to wait till February. I'll see what is out in Feb/March.

I'm out of reasons to not buy. Sounds like the phone for me, HDMI and 32GB. The core still isn't that great IMHO, but from a 1Ghz to 1.2Ghz dual will be a good jump.

I mean the X "was" a great phone, but now it's just an "ok" phone. Those that say the X is "still fast enough", and "don't need a new phone, my X can handle it" (don't get me wrong, the X is a decent phone, but once you get one of these newer phones and play with them extensively, not just at the store, well......), they are kidding themselves

Yeah, I have the discount available now too and was wondering how much the loyalty discount was. If it's only $50, I'll have to think about it. I'll definitely wait to see reviews and look around to see what else is coming down the line...and I still don't know which phone I'd get.

The X just got old and became annoying. Like girlfriends, its cute at first, then you just got to get away.
Resets and hard button LEDs that never go out. I sleep facing my phone and it's 2 feet away. I can see the light though my eyelids! that and the speaker phone is not good enough. It was a good phone, but it's time to move on.
